Man I can understand why you guys and girls didn't leave your interpretations... there's so much going on in this song. I'll try to tackle it! This goin' be long, and I'm gonna have to do a line-by-line :(

It's the age of intellectualism. Where everyone strives to analyze and interpret things to no end with their brains. Those whose minds became a repository of textbook knowledge are the elite (supreme).

I'll take a stand against this age and all those that persecute my beliefs and the heart, those that feel it right for me not to think for myself.

She's the self-proclaimed prophet from the anarchist alliance. She has been given praise for speaking against the "order" of the world. Formulating enlightenment to destroy what's been set in stone by the world.

She uses threes a lot in her songs. This makes me hint that her religion might be Wiccan or witchcraft. I even saw her in concert with a pentagram on her buckle (not to be confused with the upside down one that represents satanism). But the thing is, witchcraft is a very personal religion, so this could no doubt be her own religion. And when she writes its magick to the world, hitting threefold as she is given the godess's sight (and power).

Otep, like a lot of metal bands, has a way to make things look so negative when underneath they are in fact positive. She is spreading destruction through her voice, armed with the knowledge of the Gods in her mind. But if a place like Earth is evil, is the desctruction negative?

The true holy war is the spiritual war. What you see in IRAQ is merely bubbling up from a much larger war going on in the universe within. This is the true war. And nothing physical could ever compare.

She's calling for her people. Her fans are her soldiers. And for that, I can't argue. We come to set people free from the lies of their lives and make a stand against the empire.

According to Sun Tzu's Art of War, you are told to destroy your enemy from within. Nothing's better then fighting propoganda in the very place you are forced to hear it.

Wowie! this is a really great song, and the part is a GIRL is singin. talk about guts...

This is, in my opinion the best song on this cd.

i know this may sound a bit violent but i believe that the line: 'a monument of crisis - eye strikes this - your dead line my nest with your soul -- cleansed in bloodshed' means: to kill everyone son of bitch who lied and tried to keep us from fighting. And then secretly kill this person and rinse in their blood.. okay i don't really know.. from the from the looks of 'cleansed in bloodshed' ehh.. yeah..

All in all, i think this song is about getting ready to fight the last war for freedom. 'Poets gonna take control, souls violate parol, violently invade your home, breaking the bones of those who pose' Basically the poets are coming to take control, and infiltrate your brain. Be prepared, we're coming...

oh and the end is pretty convincing it's about a preparation for a war. My species (my people, my fans, Shadow Soldiers), No surrender (DO NOT give up, try as hard as you can, give it all you have)

and of course she does call for her Shadow Soldiers 'Come, Shadow Soldiers'

Okay, this is pretty random, but when she says "My species" I always think she's going to say "Myspace sucks."

She screams "KUAN!!" in the beginning (also spelled Guan) which is short for Guanshi'yin, which means: "Observing the Sounds (or Cries) of the World".

... I think that pretty much sums up the whole meaning of the song. It also goes well with Chino69's interpretation.

Basicaly shes talking about the revelation of the truth to humankind. "the lifting of the veil" And will "resurrect" an army of the enlightened. -Long story short, this apocolypse will bring a war -revelation at the end of the age- and will bring destruction upon those unworthy of the humain race. This song kicks ass /m\

okay, the only thing i have to say is my interpretation of the lines:

she's basically talking about the war. the line "cleansed in bloodshed" makes me think genocide, as in the war in Iraq. You know, religious cleansing and whatnot? the line is a paradox--it's criticizing the meaning of genocide. How can you "clean" your country when all your doing is making a bigger (and bloodier) mess that you'll have to clean up later?

as for "your dead line my nest with your soul" i think that she is once again calling out her shadow soldiers, inviting them to think for themselves--not what the media tells them to think. And i definetly agree completely 100% with suttiecat in the fact that she's trying to "resurrect" our infected minds and bring enlightenment to us all. This song is meant to change the way you think about the world and it definetly does just that. I also agree with suttiecat on the fact that the universe is so much bigger than all of us and our hateful human nature has become us and will ultimately destroy our world as we know it (i.e., WMD'S)
