I thing this song is about how fans do what many bands say... "a confused schoolgirl stares at the t.v. (...) and gets ideas from madonna's nasty clothes". I thing they've noticed many fans just do what their lyrics say, many fans gets ideas from bad religion lyrics, then, they say: "NO BAD RELIGION SONG CAN MAKE YOR LIFE COMPLETE"... you can't only follow their lyrics... you will get no direction from him.. be yourself!! not be what artists say you have to be (nor madonna, neither bad religion)
yeah this song prettywell talks about how nobody can think for themselves anymore, whether it be american propaghanda, religion, or images shown on TV.
And how raising people to become demi-god icons is a bad thing. Because they cant live your life and solve your problems
This is one o my favorute bad religion songs, noy because of the music, but because of the message of not following the rest and being autonomous.
I thought this was one of hte most under-appreciated bad religion songs ever. Obviously I think we all agree it's prety upfront with "No bad religion song can make yer life complete" but I think the song is them realisticly looking at themselves as the kind of heiarchy that they always sing against in religious figures and just trying to be hoenst and say how they view themselves in with the rest of the world

its pretty clear-cut. you see BR on stage getting their message across and your inspired... you wanna start up a band.. who are you trying to be. did he look to someone else for that descision? and then theres one more band out there in the genre. tough stuff. sullen song
They may not tell you what to do, but they do make an attempt to tell you how to think. Is it a forgone conclusion that respecting the wishes of others is wrong? I would suggest if not in this song, it is obvious in many of their other songs.
In this song, Greg realizes that many people look to their heros to learn what they should do in life. He then realizes Bad Religion may become said heros for some people. Greg does not want people looking to him or Bad Religion for advice. You can love Bad Religion but don't look to them for advice.
