Thrift Lyrics
Thrift
I sit here all knowing
Knowing nothing here at all
My cut spread slower
Pig hands reach into my sides
I hate this life you give me
I give you hate you live for me
I love the pain you give me
This hurting feels like love to me
They go down, down...
Down inside
They go down town, down town
They go down town to sell
My body hangs on hooks
A cloth to society
Your dollars wet my skin
Makes me papier mache thrift
I hate this life you give me
I give you hate you live for me
I love the pain
I love this hurting feels like love to me
They go down...
Down town, down town they go
Down town, down town to sell me
Knowing nothing here at all
My cut spread slower
Pig hands reach into my sides
I hate this life you give me
I give you hate you live for me
I love the pain you give me
This hurting feels like love to me
They go down, down...
Down inside
They go down town, down town
They go down town to sell
My body hangs on hooks
A cloth to society
Your dollars wet my skin
Makes me papier mache thrift
I hate this life you give me
I give you hate you live for me
I love the pain
I love this hurting feels like love to me
They go down...
Down town, down town they go
Down town, down town to sell me

A person who's barginned themselves into a group, an experiment, whatever, wanting to become part of something ... but what they do to the person is just hurt and manipulate and torture them, and then exploit them ...
Can't really explain it, but it's an awesome song. Who have there not been more comments on these Spooky Kid songs?!?! Everyone go buy Lunchboxes & Choklit Cows NOW!!!
i agree, this is a great song, but i'm not particularly sure about the meanign of it. just seems like it's about masochism to me
The opening/mainriff sounds like somthing from an 80's cop show.
Hmm, well "pigs" has been used to criticize people who promote our competitive consumerist society (capitalist pigs), perhaps the "you"s and "they"s are directed towards that society. And the "I love the pain/I love this hurting feels like love to me" is sarcastic, as in he is spitting in their faces because they can try, but they can't hurt him or keep him down. Also, I know this is later on, but in Beautiful People, there is the line "Capitalism, has made it this way...".
