Flow Lyrics
I'm always swiming against the flow of the tide
Kissing the life into something that already died
I've been drowning forever
I'll let go
I'll dive into the river and flow
You said that you could hear bells in the traffic below
I could hear sirens and car engines fighting the snow
I've been drowning forever
I'll let go
I'll dive into the river and flow
I've been drowning forever
I'll let go
I'll dive into the river and flow
Flow
Flow
Flow
Flow
Flow
Flow...
Kissing the life into something that already died
I'll let go
I'll dive into the river and flow
I could hear sirens and car engines fighting the snow
I'll let go
I'll dive into the river and flow
I'll let go
I'll dive into the river and flow
Flow
Flow
Flow
Flow
Flow...

i really love this song.. one of t-h-e best songs.
i think it's about a girl who finds it hard to fit in and she feels she's emotionally drowning and now all she wants is to go with the flow.
"You said that you could hear bells in the traffic below I could hear sirens and car engines fighting the snow" it's like she wants to hear those metaphoric bells too which means to see the good things even when it's tough and the let go of the attitude in which she is very passimistic and depressed and always goes "against the flow of the tide.."
BUT - there's also another opinion in which she commits suicide.... i hope not... i believe it's a song that shows us a really depressed and thrustrated charachter that yearns and hopes for a better life
:))
this is one of my favorite songs of all time! i love transister... this song is really depressing. i'm not quite sure what its about though...
This is one of my favorite songs too....I always listen to it when I am in a depressed mood or when I am dancing because it brings out my emotions (i am a dancer if you didnt realize that)
But I think that this song is about a girl that is not physically drowning but emotionally drowning in her sorrows, and there are so many that it seems like she is in a river of sorrows, and finally, she gives up and let things just happen, like in the lines:
I've been drowning forever I'll let go I'll dive into the river and flow
And in the lines:
You said that you could hear bells in the traffic below I could hear sirens and car engines fighting the snow
I think that means that this boy is happy and is hearing wonderful things, but she can only hear the negative and the ugly sounds.
I am probably wrong, but oh well. That's how I percieve the song.
And if you haven't heard this song yet, I suggest you do, it is amazing. The singer's voice is therapeutic and the song is, well amazing!
i love this song. it's so beautiful. also has good memories for me. like when my hippie friend kadie first played it for me, or all the hard times it got me through. like now. i think you are right, babygirl. that's the way i see it, too.
This song has deep meaning, it says so much in the lyrics even though they're repeating the same words for like 5 minutes. I really treasure this song, and hold it close to my heart for my first love. It reminds me of him everytime I hear it. I think it means that because you've been suffering so long with something that you finally just give up (or that's what you want others to think), you just want to do or say anything to stop that pain you feel..it's like a bittersweet song, because it looks like such a "strong, i'm getting over this person" type of lyrics, but really i think it goes deeper into where you're really not ok, you will pretend to "flow" with everything, and "let go", but still it hurts and always will hurt with remembering the memory of your love. You tell yourself and others that you're over it and you're stronger than it, but the truth is that really you're not.
When I first heard this song, I was like "who sings this song?" I fell in love with this song right away. It is a depressing song, honestly like tomer21 said, this does make me think that she commits suicide and how she has been depressed forever and finally let go. The part where she said about the bells below maybe she ment like how people say when they die they see the light, well she herd sirens below as in she was not alive, earth is beneath her.
i agree with you guys...i think it's about emotionally drowning and also contemplating suicide, hence talking about high places and such or maybe she's trying to stay positive
i just love this song
Is this that really cool song thats played in that scene in jawbreaker of that 'dead' girl getting out of the pool?? I remember watching jawbreaker when i was little and hearing a song simliar to this during that scene but i cant remember if this is it
yeah this is that song.
umm, doesn't it just scream heroin addict?
This is one of those beautifully depressing songs. I think she is emotionally drowning as well, always fighting but then she just gives up. To me it has always represented suicide. The part where she says "You said that you could hear bells in the traffic below I could hear sirens and car engines fighting the snow" I always imagined her being able to hear those things but not clearly at all like more muffled, like she is getting further and further away from life.
