Burgundy Lyrics

Desperately waiting on something that’s more than nothing.
I’ve been here forever waiting just to see your hands.
If you hear me cry, It’s just something I’m always doing.
Desperately waiting this wait, I hope it’ll be over soon.

Cry

When you cried, when you died
When you told me you’d open my eyes
When you cried, when you died
When you told me you’d open my eyes

Desperately waiting on something that’s more than nothing.
Burgundy blood pouring over my head, it’s so warm.
I’ve been here forever basking in this lonely river.
I’m desperately waiting on you. I hope it’ll be over soon.

Cry

When you cried, when you died
When you told me you’d open my eyes
When you cried, when you died
When you told me you’d open my eyes
I believed you.

Hey! I thoughtI would be the geek who posts what the artist has to say about the song so... here goes..

"The song is about waiting for God. For me, waiting for God is difficult and frustrating. Sometimes I get so fed up with being here (on earth) and dealing back and forth with sin - that I just want to go up, and it'll all be over. Being a Christian isn't easy because you faced with so much temptation - temptation that other people fall into without feeling bad about. But us Christians are bombarded with convction. And lets face it - its tough. Its tough to keep resisting and standing your ground. All of this gets tiresome - and like I said, I just want to go home - and then it'll all be over. I won't have to deal with sin anymore. So I'm desperately waiting on God to come get me. I've been here forever - waiting. When you wait so long - you begin to give up. But I can't give up - because when God told me that he's open my eyes to truth and when he told me that he'd be back for me. I believed him. I will never stop believing in God - and this is what has got me into this battle with sin. But I believe Him - and I will NEVER stop believing in Him. so I'll just stay here and wait. I hope that that explains it - if not - keep asking me. But for people who don't believe what I believe - I'm sure the song can apply to something going on in your life - so make the song work for you. I hope there's something in there for everyone."

this song is simply marvelous. The singing with the screaming background and tight guitars and rushing drums.... I love the mix. Dead Poetic is awesome. Best part is... they're Christians!!

When I listen to this song I see a guy who is still in love with a girl who had told him she'd help him, she cried with him and later on left him [When you died] Basically, without her and her love he just suffers all alone. He hopes it will be over soon and he's waiting for her to come back. [He's hoping she will.] He's waiting on her and she is definately something "MORE than nothing" However anyone interprets this song, it's a great song. As are all of the songs by Dead Poetic.

thbkk, It may seem hard to believe but God does cry and he did die. Even back when the world was first created God's heart was "filled with pain" (Genesis 6:6) when mankind was sinning so greatly against him. Also, Jesus cried in the Garden of Gethsemane before he was crucified so therefore he died as well. However, he rose from the dead, proving he is God, and promises to return to us.

That is why Dead Poetic wrote this song, they just want to go home to Heaven and be with God because they are tired of waiting on this earth.

"Burgundy blood pouring over my head,"

I think this is a reference to Jesus' crown of thorns.. and therefore this song is about waiting for God to come open his eyes, and relieve him of his loneliness.
