Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
Maybe it was induced by drugs, innumerable, but I sincerely disagree. I think this song is about balancing extremes in sound and AIC did it oh so well with this song. I was in awe when I first heard this tune. It was just beyond masterful. I think the viola is the wasp and the electric is the whale. Maybe the steel acoustic guitar is there is provide some balance between the extremes. Anyway you look at it, you shall still find one of the most beautiful instrumental pieces of all time. It's shivering and yet so melodic that it might send you to the land of nodding off.
this song is pure genius! what more can i say? listening to this when i am high is fuckin bad ass! cantrell is genius for making his guitar actually resemble whale calls.
innumerable ur stupid...how can this song be about drugs...ur an idiot...just relax and listen to this sooothing music...makes me cry...wired instruments...I wish AIC woulda done more instrumentals like this...This is wut AIC sounds like if they were instrumerntl
Amazing song. Jar of Flies is allot less hard than previous albums which is good. The Cello gets me all the time and I can't stop listening to the song. The song reminds of Long Beech Island in New Jersey for some reason. AICs only instrumental and a damn good one.
when i listened to it in between the pitchbended guitars, it sounded just like "Don't Follow", only an octave higher, i guess, or in a different key. idk. seems how this comes before Dont Follow, i think this an instrumental prelude to the song. if you know what i mean, ones where they dont have a faded or abrupt ending.

it says in the booklet that came with the cd it's a cello playing not viola.
The song gives me a sort of sinking feeling withe the guitar. Then the cello reminds me that there is hope even as I plunge into a canyon of despair
