Summerland Lyrics
love this song. this is the first song i turn to (then strawberry immediately after this one) when im down and feeling shitty. somehow, listening to this makes me feel alright again.
I think this song kind of takes after "Hand in Glove" by The Smiths in its meaning. I see it as a couple who does whatever they want, despite what the outside world thinks. However dangerous the path may be, they are still together and in their own little twisted world of love.
to me everclear, sparkle and fade this song being summerland are the most amazing things. the words how they flow together and just so perfect....:::I think I lost my smile I think you lost yours to we have lost the power to make each other laugh::: are just so great and means so much to me with this clarity thats so perfect.
this is my favorite song..i knwo its not the best song in the world but its my favorite...this song always gave me hope...like someday it was telling me i would find my summerland...the one place where everything was prefect...the one place where you're able to smile and be happy again...
leaving and never looking back. starting over.
who hasn't felt like this before?
this song is so emotional,so much truth to it...the story to it is this, there is a town called summerland in california i think, that art has passed on the highway and seen on maps, and though it's right there,he's never been there, story i read on him where i don't know. but still a great song
this song uses the the town summerland california to symbolize our insignificance in life. summerland was a town that art once drove through and he compares the insignificance of this little town to how little of an impact we make as we live our short lives. rather philosophical
oh man i dont know how many times ive listened to this song and begged my boyfriend to do the same with me. summerland is the equal of avondale az. damn im glad we left
aicguy22, i read the same thing many years ago. summerland is like most any goal - it is attainable. all you have to do is take that exit. but something in your life is always keeping you from it. you've got somewhere to be, and you always pass it by. i've wanted to just drive by that sign ever since i read what he said about the song. however, i live about 1,000 miles away. :(
As with a lot of their songs there is this theme of 'you and me against the world'. The idea that you don't fit in the the world and life in general but it doesn't matter because you have each other. I just find this some incredibly romantic.
