Well I think everyone is on target with the meaning- describing someone who is a people pleaser and in turn a masochist " I think you like to be the victim I think you like to be in pain I think you make yourself a victim almost every single day' but they arent seeing t that they are just being self destructive (it's exhausting trying to be perfect)...my favorite line " I think you are blind to the fact that the hand you hold is the hand that holds you down."

Meh This song seems to be about ME. ONly no Translated as you all seem to think. It's about a small, attention deprived girl, who cant get what she needs. Not from home atleast. She puts her self in situations that make her look bad and she doesnt seem to care. She is getting the desired attention and thats all that matters.
To me, I think this song is about a girl who is trying to please everyone. Trying to make everything perfect and everyone happy..Totally describes me..
Actually, this song is about his older brother who died when art was about 12 or so. His brother did everything he could to please everyone around him.
to me he's singing about a person who has been told she was worthless since she was born, so now she can't help but to feel comfortable in situations where she feels small, stupid an victimized.
This is one of my favorite Everclear songs, but it's also depressing to me because it reminds me of the person that I'm trying not to be. Some one who tries to change themselves to fit some one elses ideals. I've known a lot of people like this, I think we all have, even our selves.
This song is about a person who tries so hard to be perfect in every way. They try so hard to be that one perfect person and to do everything just right. While all along, they don't realize that it's nearly impossible to please everyone.
To me, the person he describes comes off as one of those very goody-goody types who are slowly starting to break at the will of everyone else's expectations. And they slowly begin to realize that the perfect they try so hard to be is near impossible to reach.
