Hey God, I'm just a little man, I gotta wife and family
I almost lost my house, I bought into the dream
We're barely holdin' on, when I'm in way too deep
We're two paychecks away from living out on the streets
She's a workin' single mom, like a saint she don't complain
She never says a word, but she thinks that she's to blame
Her son just got convicted, he blew some cop away
She did her best to raise him but the world got in the way
Hey God - tell me what the hell is goin' on, it seems like all the good shits gone
It keeps on getting harder hanging on
But hey hey hey hey God, theres nights you know I wanna scream
These days you're even harder to believe
I know how busy you must be, but hey hey hey hey God ...
Do you ever think about me?
Born into the ghetto in 1991, just a happy child playing beneath the summer sun
A vacant lots his playground, by 12 he's got a gun
The odds are bet against him, junior don't make 21
Hey God - tell me what the hell is goin' on, it seems like all the good shits gone
It keeps on getting harder hanging on
But hey hey hey hey God, theres nights you know I wanna scream
These days you're even harder to believe
I know how busy you must be, but hey hey hey hey God ...
Do you ever think about me?
I'd get down on my knees, I'm gonna try this thing your way
I seen a dying man too proud to beg, spit on his own grave
Was he too gone to save? Or did you even know his name?
Are you the one to blame, I got something to say
Hey God - tell me what the hell is goin' on, it seems like all the good shits gone
It keeps on getting harder hanging on
But hey hey hey hey God, theres nights you know I wanna scream
These days you're even harder to believe

This is an awesome song to me because of how crappy he believes his life is, and how he wants to turn away from God, and despite how much church and worship and the text says that you are the world to God, he feels so insignificant like many that he gives up on it almost, but then after seeing that guy quit on life... he got down on his knees and prayed even though he was still doubtful.
I love the way you said that. Sure he's mad at God, but he's still talking to Him. Instead of losing all his faith, he's just directing his anger towards God and I feel like it's better to acknowledge God and be angry than to lose faith completely. You can't be angry with God if you don't believe in Him.

Questioning God and why he does whay he does. The world is full of injustices and he needs someone to blame why not take it out on God. The song rocks. The riff rocks, the lyrics are great and it's a great song.
This is a real "stick it to the man" song (sorry for the expression, but thats what this song is! hehe!)! It shows that theres always bad shit happening int he world, and he sees no-one to blame but God. Good song, really gets me in a lively mood!!
This song and "Something to Believe In" should be like twins. It's fitting that they're on the same album/cd. The song is about questioning why things must sometimes be so seemingly unfair in the world. It's true that there are always terrible things happening to people.
I like that the lyrics are telling God "I got something to say!" and that it brings up the idea of questioning things. I would, if given the opportunity, have a few questions to ask, too!!
