Actually, I've heard several times that this song is about global warming. Or El Ninio. I forget which.

excellent indeed. i think it's about being so crazy about someone, you want them to kick you into touch almost as much as you want to be with them because you know that they could hurt you.

I think its about a bonkers girlfriend.

I think this song is about somebody who refers to themself as perfect "Born in a manger" but who is actually completely insane and strange, but being completely attracted to that person despite the fact they are so different.

I think it is about someone who actually was born in a manger -- or said to be born there -- and that's God. And it's about how God or the universe or nature (I doubt it matters much from the perspective of SFA) is now destroying everything on earth through global warming, fires, and lots of other Ten Plague-like calamities. Very pleasant music to go with such destructive lyrics.
