I think this song is about going on tour, and being away for a long time to find your purpose in life "Wandering around the world trying to find myself"
But by doing that he is saying good-bye to the girl he loves. He can't tell her he loves her though. So he keeps procrastinating and tells himself he'll tell her when he gets back. "Save it for the right time when we'll start again/ tomorrow's just around the bend/ softly crawl into my shell"
After touring for a while he realizes his home was where he belonged, with this girl. "I turn around one day and there you are"
