Someone
Got themselves a letter
In the mail the other day
It's already worn and tattered
And I guess
It gives away

All the things we keep inside
All the things that really matter
The face puts on it's best disguise
And all is well
Until the heart
Betrays

She knows
As she reads her letter
That things were bound to stray
Winds blow
She pulls her coat tighter
And the letter flies away

With all the things she keeps inside
All the things that really matter
The face puts on it's best disguise
And all is well
Until the heart betrays

Lord bring on the night
Wrap it all around me
Let it hold me tight
Soak up all that I bleed

Lord bring on the night
Wrap it all around me
Let it hold me tight
Soak up all that I bleed

And I'll fly away
Yeah I'll fly away
Yeah I'll fly away
Watch me

Lord bring on the night
Wrap it all around me
Let it hold me tight
Soak up all that I bleed, yeah yeah

I bleed

    Song Meaning

This song was written for Criss Oliva and also for his wife Dawn. If anyone doesnt know Criss was the original guitarist for Savatage. I had the pleasure of knowing him and his brother.

this song is powerful...and it makes me cry...

i think it could also be about cutting, self-harm because thr girl has found out something possibly about someone she loved and there's no-one to tell it so she bottles it up inside for so long her feelings have to be vented in some way and that's the way she chooses.

I think it tells the story of a girl who puts on a mask to hide her true feelings for someone, however whaterver is in this letter she recieves from this person has such an affect on her that she can no longer contain her feelings

Someone thought a relationship could happen and it didn't.

    OR

A widow recieving a letter of a lost husband in a war.

Could be either, I think it's the former, not the latter, but ehn.

To me, and the above comment, I agree, it's a powerful song, but in my own interpretation, I think it's a promised suicide. As if someone he loved were to receive his suicide note. A few sad song, but nevertheless, one of my favorites

    My Interpretation

As far as i know the whole album is about the serbian bosnian war and specifically tells a love story between a serb and a bosnian girl.

This is a memory/interpretation comment. First off I think it's about a promised suicide and for a personal reason too. So it was after school and I was listening to this song when my best friends sister walked up to me and handed me a piece of paper, I opened it and inside was a letter, essentially saying why he committed suicide, and all I remember is his sister, hugged me and cried for about 15 minutes on the bus, and I had to stay on the bus until her stop and walk her home. I'll never forget that day and everytime I listen to this song it reminds me of that day.

Light Up The Sky

The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
