My Melancholy Blues Lyrics
Very great Freddie composition. I really can picture Freddie behind a piano in an abanodoned bar, with all the seats on the tables and only a spot aimed on Freddie singin this song. The meaning of the song is very obvious and would fit my videoclip idea. A sad song song about someone who has been dumped by his partner and finally finds something to be positive about. i think :)
one of my favorite queen songs. pretty self explanitory through the lyrics on how somebody significant to him left him. a sad song, but oh so good.
Such a great song... one of my favorites!! It's just about Freddie (or someone) feeling sad and lonly.
for sure a freddie vocal masterpiece
that song makes me cry..love his voice
oh me gawsh!!! first time i ever listened to this song was like 20 odd minuets ago and i love it. reminds me of hound of the baskervilles, because it sez about how the suroundin or somethig was melancholy, and i was wanted to say ooo like melancholy blues. lol. its on law, in the extra bit, when they come off stage xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This song is essentially about Freddie’s fame and the fact that although he appears to be happy, this new celebrity is not enough for him because his relationships are unfulfilling. It could also concern his sexuality because at that time he was struggling to convince people he was straight, and that couldn’t have made him happy, but that’s just a thought. He starts off saying how his lover has left him again. He carries on saying how he’s going to drown his sorrows (he had a growing drug habit at this time also) etc and then avows his true feelings “So don’t expect me to behave perfectly and wear that sunny smile”. As we know Freddie was never one to discuss his private life and often wore this ‘sunny smile’ in order to conceal his true feelings from the ever intrusive public, in this line he is just admitting that. Then he carries on explaining that he doesn’t know how to handle his newfound fame “I’m causing a mild sensation with this new occupation. I’m permanently glued to this extraordinary mood”. I.e. he’s not happy. Then he concludes saying that he’s only adjusting to his new celebrity and is not happy although it may seem otherwise. He invites us into his mind to show us his true feelings which are different to what we would presume- “I’m in the news I’m just getting used to my new exposure, so come into my enclosure and meet my melancholy blues”. This is one of my favourite songs; the piano is amazing, it’s a Freddie classic.
Great song by freddie, i like wat tel7e2 said about this song i feel the same way, and princessdelilah wtf are u going on about baskervilles and hounds and law?
