Drive In, Drive Out Lyrics
I specifically went out of my way to pull this song up just so that I can mention what thejames already pointed out
in the very closing seconds you can hear someone (I think it was Boyd) saying THAT is some BAD SHIT!!!
I've literally sat down and played those last 2 bars to close the song on my bass over and over again for half hours at a time
A E A, G Gb, E D, C B, G D, G D, A E A
never ever gonna forget it
and, of course, the percussion is amazing
you can have all the under the table and dreaming's upbeat style you want
and you can have all of before these crowded streets' deep twisted experimentations and time signature switches you want
and you can have all the slick, smooth, jazzy Everyday feel you want
and you can have all the low, deep, resounding carnival of sound Busted Stuff brings that you want
as far as the studio material is concerned,
you can't top Crash
YOU CAN'T TOP CRASH!!
THAT IS SOME BAAAAAAD SHIT!!!
@T_D_Phoenix It's actually Carter saying that it's some bad shit and he's actually said in interviews before that this is his favorite song - or good reason, too!

He's tired of everything he's dealing with.. so he "drives out" I think its about him going where he wants to .. while the lyrics aren't as deep as some dave songs... the music is definitely kick ass. This song live is AMAZING
no meggymac no! This song actually has no meaning whatsoever. It was started in the studio during the recording of Crash just by dave and boyd messing around and it turned out the tune was good so they recorded it. Dave wrote the lyrics quick and they have no meaning at all. It is a song meant to confuse people that try to figure out meanings. And that's why it doesn't apear to be deep...because it's not at all. And I do agree this song live is VERY AMAZING!
AWESOME SONG! "hungry, hungry booyyy"
Maybe he didn't have any deep meaning to this, but boy does it describe some of my on-again, off-again relationships! "Really, we're done this time, really, I swear! ..... are you free on Tues?"
I believe it does have meaning, even if it was inadvertent. He's sick an tired of everything, and just want's to say "F*ck it all".
AWESOME SONG!!!! it has some meaning.. to me, at least. it's something about relationships.. something like jennathena sais. like, they break up and get back together, break up again.. sounds like me and my OTHER ex.. "drive in drive out I'm leaving.. drive in drive out I come back again.. drive in drive out i'm leaving..............."
Dave said the only reason he wrote it was to have a song that Carter Beauford (drummer) could go crazy on
One of my all time favorites!! I definitely agree all the way with what mstrswrd06 said!!!
The red rocks version is incredible. I can believe that Dave wrote this for Carter, because he really does go crazy when he plays this song live. Awesome!
