Hear, hear, Max's post *was* very good indeed, and I understand the sentiment. It's hard to see something you love being spilled out on the floor and stomped on in the name of culture or style or trends... that people support artists like Avril, and consider them 'hardcore' or 'punk' or whatever, it's just WRONG. because that isn't what those musical styles were about- there's nothing political or remotely insightful in any of the things i've read or heard from Avril's lyrics. This isn't a way of life for her, it's a way to get records sold, and that is why she's not punk. |

I love this band because they're such a bizarre mix of beautiful, serious lyrics, and crazy non-sensical bits that you can just sit back and enjoy. Their music is so diverse and catchy that you can't help but like them... this song is great, very sensual, dark, something you could play to just unwind, or, the case may be, wind up. ;) |

You know, it's a really sad day when such boring, repetitive, pop-bland lyrics from such a trendy person are considered 'punk.' Have you people never heard the sex pistols? Dead milkmen? The Ramons? The Misfits? Lord, even Rancid. This isn't PUNK. This is pop with a rock guitar and cute clothes. Punk's dead. It's sad, but DEAL WITH IT. I mean come on. The lyrics are second rate oh-i-must-make-clear-rhymes-with-simple-words-and-use-dumb-spelling-in-the-title-to-be-cool, and the only thing that saves them from Destiny's Child BS is the fact that there IS a guitar, and there's almost a decent beat there. almost. *shudder* Will the real music PLEASE step up? Please? |

I agree- it's definately a sort of pick-up scene... I can see a catty girl making snide comments about other girls, trying so hard to be the best... it's such a cool song.
