Remember Bowie wrote this when he was just about 24.It has this sort of Message to youth from a man who has just entered adulthood, but has yet to forget how it feels to be young |

great song!i wish he would have done a remaster in his later years as im sure it would go well with his more experienced vocals at the time.I think it's about how many people are always too busy caring about romantic love and how finding actual friends is usually so much harder.I mean, you can go over to a complete stranger and give them your number because you find them attractive and people will find it completely logical. But going over and asking them to be your friend... |

such a sad and beautiful song, though its obviously based on Candy Darling, its also just about self loathing in general."What do you think i'd see if i could walk away from me?"is such a sad lyric and something i think many people subconsciously ask themselves through life("if i wasn't so X i would.....","i wish i was.....").its a lot like Radioheads "creep" |

I think this song is about being born "different".The lyrics"I was dancing when I was twelve
I was dancing when I was out
I danced myself right out the womb
Is it strange to dance so soon?" are about the narrator's childhood, ever since he was a kid he's been this way,the question "is it strange to dance so soon?"sounds exactly like the stuff a parent would ask when confronted with their child acting "different".It seems these are questions he asks himself through life, whether his love for dancing(dancing could literally be a metaphor for anything that goes against the norm)truly is strange. The line "i danced myself into the tomb"is him deciding that to keep doing what he loves, and accepting that he will remain strange in the eyes of others.I remember hearing this song sitting on a ferry deck while looking at the surrounding fog, very moody, one of t-rex's best |

No comments? really? this song is a banger!.Personally i think this song is about a guy who falls in love with a girl who turns out to be a witch.more so,she was using her powers to make things go better between them.Though the guy soon gets weared down by all the magical chaos that happens around her.It seems this it what ultimately destroys their relationship.Something about this song just gives off such a warm nostalgic feeling. |

what i love about this song is that Bowie took a relatively sweet(if you can even call a stone's song "sweet")love song and just covered it with so much aggression and force, the disharmonious piano and Bowie's strong voice almost makes it sound violent, though i think that was intentional given its on the same album as "Cracked Actor".But yeah, this is one of the rare times where a cover actually is way better than the original(no offense to the stone's though,)the |

it's about a girl who is obsessed with being perfect.she's terrified of being filthy, therefore she spends hours on hygiene and "tidying herself up".Even the boy she likes she,she can only note he,s "antiseptic" She's turned being perfect into her entire identity to the point where she can't even allow herself to have any feelings that aren't "clean".Perhaps it's her way of fighting off the evident changes that happen during puberty,to stay "germ-free",thus turning it into an constant phobia.Great song, awesome vocals, this was one of the songs that got me into the more "melodic" sides of punk |

"Sam was a gun
And I never knew his last name
And we never had no fun" to me this always sounded like the narrator just repeating what he's been brainwashed into bielieving,it sounds exactly like something a police officer(or other authority) would say to convince him not to resist"Sam was dangerous,You didnt know him,He wasn't your friend". though you can still hear the small hints of sadness in his vocals,"Singing old songs we loved" |

@[MOT_Muni:54849] i 100 procent agree,it is such a good look into his character, especially as most of the other songs on the album after this seem to be from outside perspectives(though i believe, soul love, five years, are meant to be songs from the perspective of Ziggy |

i think this song it is about a girl who goes through a bad period in her life(depression or mental illness perhaps) and is abandoned by her "friends" because of it."the people all call her alaska"they dont get why she is struggling so much because, after all "its all in her mind" |

@[plor:54839] youre probably right!i think its a look into the story from his perspective,"walking in the snowy street, let me understand, drifting down a silent park, stumbling over land"could be him watching her in the start of the movie where she roleplays in the park "I bet you laugh out loud at me,a chance to strike me down"could be him mourning the fact that,to her,he is in fact only a fairytale villian meant to teach her a lesson and then be overthrown for the greater good.It lines up with the fact that in the Labyrinth (behind the scenes) interview,Bowie mentions how Jareth doesn't really want to be Goblin King, its just something he inherited, that he doesn't have a choice, perhaps this is why he wants Sarah(and perhaps to some extent her brother)to stay so bad, perhaps this is why he gets so furious when he hears that Hoggle has befreinded her.or maybe bowie just used a line from the movie for fun,who knows, either way, this is a banger song! |

"Rabbit Fighter"could refer to the mating rituals of rabbits, where female rabbits will "Fight" and chase potential bucks to test their endurance and mating worth. This song always reminded me of the movie Jojo Rabbit ,even though it came out much later |
