To me this is about about a person near the end of their existence first reflecting on their time in the world, but then shifting to their feelings for another beloved being that has died before them. One that they cherished and loved and have been missing terribly. They feel an almost ghostly presence reaching out, beckoning (welcoming?) "Who you trying to get in touch with?" They ponder...I'm almost with you...I can sense you're waiting for me. "Is this the taste of victory?" Is the hopeful notion held by believers in the afterlife, i.e I'll see you soon when my time is done here. My mother has been alone for 25 years now since my Dad passed on. This song reminds me of her. |
