In The End Lyrics

I can see what you mean
It just takes me longer
I can feel what you feel
It just makes you stronger

You can take me for a little while
You can take me, you can make me smile
In the end

Yes you can

I can see what you mean
It just takes me longer
I can feel what you feel
It just makes you stronger

I know, I know, I know
The feeling grows
I see, I see, I see
It's got to be

Oh yeah
Whoah yeah

I can do what you do
You just do it better
I can cry like you cry
It just makes me sadder

I know, I know, I know
The feeling grows
I see, I see, I see
Whoah it's got to be

You can take me for a little while
You can take me, you can make me smile
In the end

Whoah yeah

I can shine like you shine
It don't make me brighter
If I think like you think
It doesn't make my load
much lighter

I can see what you mean
It just takes me longer
I can feel what you feel
It just makes me stronger

Woahoah yeah
Oh yeah

I can understand the love song interpretation, but I see relevance to relationships in general. I think it speaks about how one person can and can't relate to another. I see aspects of blending of two people in the song and aspects of individuality. It's a good reminder that we need people and that sharing feelings makes us stronger. It talks about understanding, empathy, sadness, emulation, and philosophy (maybe ways of thinking is a better way to put it).

The switch from the acoustic part to the electric part blows me away. I love when songs make a well executed, unexpected change. Oh yeah, woah yeah!

Suprised there aren't more comments about this song. One of Rush's few love songs, and unlike most cliched love song lyrics, it expresses a strong sentiment of the respect and admiration for someone who you you truly place above yourself. I think the lyrics express the feelings of one who wants to emulate the qualities of his partner, but feels he can never become the perfection he sees in his partner.

I was going through my text messages with my husband, and he had listed this song as his Swan Song so I was listening to it today oh my God I was just bawling my husband was murdered on February 16th of this year when he went out for his nightly walk. this is just a beautiful song, I can see why this was his swan song as he was calling it to me because he had always said I do things better and he tries but together, oh God together we were just great now there's a hole that will never be filled but I will always think of him when I listen to this song

Although I know Neil Peart well enough to know he probably did not initially intend this. But next time you listen to this song, think of it as a non believer talking to a believer that just gave them their testimony. It really works. Love Rush!! Peace.
