I think this song could take on multiple meanings, and I'll elaborate on a two of them. First, I think this is a break up song, and could apply specifically to a romantic relationship. The music video seems to suggest this as well. It seems the romantic relationship is falling apart due to a second non-romantic relationship. The obvious choice for the non-romantic relationship is being a member of The Killers. The narrator doesn't know what to say to his SO, saying that it's harder than you think to draw clear boundaries that prevent The Killers from taking up all of his time leaving little for his family. He tries to walk away from his responsibilities as a band member but the fact that being in a high caliber band was his dream causes him to hesitate and getting drawn back into the grind of tour/album/tour. When he is able to get away from the band he tries to hide and break off contact, but the band always knows how to find him and get in touch. The narrator feels like he's in an impossible situation because it's never like they say, meaning very few people have accurately described the feelings and emotions he's experiencing trying to balance work/family. He wants to break free of the constant give and take between band and family, because he feels like he's emotionally holding on by a thread, but the thread doesn't break, making it more akin to a wire. And therein lies the problem, he wants make a decision between band and family, but can't bring himself to do it, resulting in SO making things right in a reckless manner.
Alternatively, it could be about drug addiction. His SO can't tolerate drugs/alcohol around the family, but the narrator has an addiction he's thus far been unable to overcome. |

I think this song is about death. Figuratively speaking, Death is able to take its time, speak his mind because it has nothing to fear. It can redefine anywhere (wipe out a population). I think the line "anywhere I roam" is a nod to Satan in the book of Job. When Satan has to give an account before God of where he comes from, he replies "from travelling to and fro upon the earth". The phrase "to and fro" suggests leaving a path of destruction, something Death would do anywhere it roams. |

Alternatively, King Moonracer could be the Satan archetype who's searching for enlightenment (Christ archetype) and finds it in the arms of a lover (not necessarily Mary Magdalene). The details are flexible but the overarching theme is that of true love and inner peace. |

I think this song is about the romantic relationship between the Christ archetype and the Satan archetype. Christ is represented as the misfit King Moonracer who seeks out their "angel" or soul mate (Satan archetype). The Christ archetype is so committed to seeking out the Satan archetype that they are willing to be caught in a trap of physical earthly flesh. The music video ends with the big bang followed quickly by the image of the fetus, representing the extreme lengths the Christ archetype will go to in order to be with theme Satan archetype. The Christ archetype is willing to create a universe of physical matter and be born into it in order to seek out the Satan archetype in the hopes of helping the Satan archetype achieve enlightenment and eternal happiness together. Presumably the Christ archetype is so committed to this goal that they have been reincarnated hundreds of times.
I think one of the earthly lives together is expanded upon in the song and it alludes to the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. The small space just above her bed with a single light on paints an image of a sex worker or prostitute working under the red light. It's in this moment Jesus (Christ archetype) knows he will succeed in helping Mary (Satan archetype) in achieving enlightenment. There's a school of thought that sacred sexuality is the initiation for enlightenment. It's not the act of sex itself, but the love and understanding one attains when in a sexual relationship for selfless love. Selflessness, love, and knowledge (trinity) are the keys to enlightenment and escaping the cycles of karma to attain nirvana (nothingness/peace) after death. |

| Kevin Max – Stranded 72.5 Lyrics

I think this is depicting the Christ and Satan archetypes, as they're the western adaptation of Yin and Yang. Here they're depicted as soul mates and lovers. The first half of the song is from Satan's point of view. Satan has been reincarnated on the Earth at least 100 times but fails to escape the cycles of karma because fear interferes with righteous living. Fear of what isn't specified and for good reason because it's meant to be a metaphor for anyone who doesn't face their own fears. I think the stanza that everyone of us is trying so hard to get by is meant to apply the metaphor of Satan to every person prior to enlightenment. The second half of the song is from the perspective of the Christ archetype, the enlightened person who has faced their fears, conquered them, found success, and understands the nature of causality. The Christ archetype loves the Satan archetype, saying that Satan's face like pearls all luminous contains great beauty. The lyric the number on your wrist a 666 makes it clear we're seeing from the Christ archetype's perspective and he's seeing Satan who has a 666 mark because Satan is forever falling just short of enlightenment (7 is the number representing perfection, completeness, enlightenment as there's 7 days in a week, 7 levels of heaven, etc.). Towers bending and stars burning out while churches fall without a doubt represent the Christ archetype's death and escape from the cycles of karma. Towers bending and stars burning out are a description for the imagery of the space time continuum being warped after death to the end of time where nirvana awaits. Churches falling without doubt represent that religion doesn't help achieve enlightenment, rather interferes and serves to keep people trapped. Finally the Christ archetype proclaims that they need the Satan archetype at their side, a reference to the balance of the two dual forces of nature, yin and yang, that serve to self-perpetuate the cycles of karma. The line Stranded 72.5 is a reference to the average lifespan at the time of writing, and means that for every lifetime we are reincarnated we're stranded in a physical form on earth for approximately 72.5 years, and we have 72.5 years to try to break free of humanity's worst inclinations and tendencies.
Obviously this song is a metaphor and not to be taken literally. It's central theme is that one should work to attain self-enlightenment and understand causality and the forces that govern the universe (laws of physics, sociological and psychological phenomena) and the ultimate goal is to achieve self-acceptance and happiness for your 72.5 years instead of just trying to get by until death is upon you and you realize the false promises of afterlife by various religions are nothing but a fairy tale. |

I'd like to preface my comment by saying, I don't think my interpretation is in line with the intended meaning when it was written. However, it makes me think that people are being likened to chemical atoms. For a chemical reaction to occur, a "fruitful collision" has to occur between the two interacting molecules. Likewise with humans, for relationships to form and developed, chance meetings have to happen. These most often occur in areas of high abundance, such as crowds during the rush hour. Except in the song I always imagined the type of fruitful collision that would occur would be sexual in nature, hence he needs contact. |

I agree that this song includes aliens and perhaps the occult, but I think reincarnation is also a theme in the song. Familiar faces and sights, reach back remember with all your might. This is an obvious reference to past lives. I think when he says sleep and dream is all he craves, I think that means he wants to escape the cycles of karma. He has to travel across the milky way to be reincarnated somewhere else, somewhere that his master (supreme being of the universe) appoints for him. Nevertheless, he knows that he will someday be reunited with his love and soul mate. |

I think this song has layered meanings, of which include reincarnation and the story of a couple throughout the ages.
The song begins saying that they got trapped within the same old scene. I think this is a reference to the cycles of karma and reincarnation. Next, it says that they met in a washed up town where it rained and never stopped. I think this is referencing flood mythology of several different religions. Next, the narrator states that they tested every single fate, which I think means that this couple has lived hundreds of lives together in which they adopted a myriad of lifestyles. I think the stanza that states they took shelter in night and love was a vice indicates the couple was not actively seeking truth to liberate themselves from the cycles of karma, rather took comfort in the love that they shared. This leads to them needing to run after truth, but does not help because they don't know where to go. They're holding on to the hope that they will escape the cycles of karma together. It eventually gets to the point where one of the two lovers finds truth that liberates them from reincarnation and results in the lover that is left behind lonely and seeking a new partner (the woeful widower). However, they have spent centuries with their original soul mate and will never let them go. It ends by saying that they tested every spirit (God) named and let time decide their fate (to be reincarnated or not). I think this song is called We love dangerous because it was dangerous to be incarnated in the first place. However, the reason they chose to be incarnated was to find love, and they were willing to be trapped in an imperfect world forever to find it.
I think the couple in this song is an allusion to Christ and Satan, or Yin and Yang. The couple represents the two forces at work within everyone, and that these forces need to work together in order to find truth and happiness. I think the one lover that escaped reincarnation first is Christ, who will never let us go, and waits patiently for his lover. |

I think this song is about a person's desire to find truth. It starts out with the narrator trying everything to find truth and came to the conclusion that reality is not black and white as many religions claim. He states that humanity is standing on the edge of truth trying to make sense of it, but unfortunately leads to many people becoming afraid and turning to hatred. This ultimately leaves humanity empty handed. Throughout human history, civilizations have accrued knowledge that was subsequently lost due to war, catastrophe, etc. The narrator mentions militarization of societies and the subsequent loss of civilization and knowledge. He finds this frustrating and states that he is open to both eastern and western philosophy and wishes people would stop fighting over differences and focus on increasing the understanding of truth. It portrays truth and knowledge as a heavenly afterlife, not unlike Gnostic Christianity. |

I think this song is a modern day equivalent of Ecclesiastes. The narrator is searching for meaning in life, and questions God to the point of wanting to die. It is my opinion that the narrator is more than likely contemplating suicide. Whether an attempt is made or not is unclear, but the narrator comes away with a new appreciation for life, and wants to truly be the person that God would have them be. |

I think the last line of this poem is about the collaboration between God and Man. God has bestowed free will to Man and has thus given up complete control of everything in existence until Man can become one with him. That is why imperfections exist, not because of sin or a flawed God, but because our collaboration has just begun and is not in sync yet. |

I think this song is about the need to seek for God outside the confines of the church. God is not limited to the walls, ideas, or sacred texts of the Christian church. Rather he is everywhere, in everything, and it is up to everyone that calls themself a believer to seek out every attribute of God; not just the ones the church likes to talk about. |

| Kevin Max – Walking Through Walls (Just To Get to You) Lyrics

This song is the story of a young person who tragically dies young. They linger on earth as a ghost that watches over their soul mate. The soul mate, "Christine", ultimately commits suicide because she is lonely, depressed, and scared. The end of the song describes the event as a "tragedy", but immediately alludes to the couple being reunited as ghosts together.
I think the narrator of the song is an allusion to Christ. The narrator's time is cut short (Christ died at 33), the narrator walks in shadows (Christ is often described as being capable of becoming invisible in the gospels), the narrator walks through walls (Christ did the same in the gospels), and the narrator is capable of feeling a soul that's been shattered (implies omniscience). Additionally, I think that Christine is an allusion to followers of Christ (Christians). Christine does misguided things (consulting mediums) that ultimately don't align with what her lover would want for her. This ultimately leads to her self destruction, but in the end reunites her with her lover.
I think this song has many Gnostic themes. One being a sexually active Christ. The lyric "Screaming out my name as we collide" is a heavy sexual innuendo. It also implies that Christ didn't live a sinless life ("yeah I lied" explains the inconsistencies between gospel accounts), but was released from physical imprisonment and waits for others to do the same. In the meantime, he watches over his "church" until it joins him in the afterlife. |

I think this song is about a journey from Christianity to agnosticism. In the first 3 stanzas he talks about what it was like when he became a committed Christian. He was given a role in serving the church, told what bible verses to know, and was happy to devote his life to serving Christianity.
I think his devotion to the church runs so deep that he becomes an ambassador of religion rather than a follower of Christ. This leads to the 4th stanza in which he has to "Stop" because he "needs" Christ. He spends time remaining silent about how his beliefs and views of Christ no longer align with the church.
It is a strange beginning for him when he comes to the conclusion that humanity is formed from beliefs and values of all religions, and religion without love is meaningless. He goes on to say that a day will come when humanity no longer needs religion to know and love God.
He ends the song by repeating his commitment to remove all of the fake religious charades in his life. |
