I believe this song is about Laura Jane Grace. The singer and musician of the band "Against Me". My boyfriend read Laura Jane Grace's book "Tranny" and in the book Conor Oberst was mentioned as a close friend and one of the first and only people to know about her cross dressing and wanting to become a woman.
"In Polaroids you were dressed in woman's clothes, were you made ashamed why'd you lock them in a drawer." Laura Jane Grace also talks about struggling with heroin and drugs in the book.

@[MaxConorBemisOberst420:21969] also, i have been listening to Conor Oberst since i was 13 and I'm 25 now. he is my favorite artist also I own 29 of his albums from bright eyes, Conor Oberst, monsters of folk, mystic valley band, his compilation albums, desaparecidos, even albums as old as commander Venus and I'm still adding to my collection. Just wanted to say "first day of my life" is a great song but to me it's about a couple settling for each other. strange you chose that for a wedding. "but now I don't care I could go anywhere with you and I'd PROBABLY be happy so if you want to be with me, with these things there's no telling we just have to wait and see. But I'd rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery". Wow real sweet lol |

@[MaxConorBemisOberst420:21968] I don't think that the word "happy" will ever be the right word to describe him or his music. Waist of paint, if winter ends, no lies just love, I won't ever be happy again, breezy, I could go on forever with examples of his music from the mid 90s up until now. My point was so many bands I listen to have changed so much over the years. I'm glad he hasn't and he stays true to who he has always been. He will always be the best artist, singer, song writer, and poet to ME. And in MY opinion he will ALWAYS be AMAZING!! I know opinions are like assholes and vocalizing your opinion can make you seem like an asshole sometimes. This was in Conor's defense, not mine. I can say whatever the f*** i want, after all it's my opinion if I thought the song was amazing. |

AMAZING!! EVERYTHING the man has ever made is!! This song has been stuck in my head ever since I saw him play it live Saturday 3/11/17. It's not on the new album Salutations so I began looking for it and found it on here and on u tube as untitled. My boyfriend actually got me the set list that night and it says Solo for the title of this song. |
