This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
Mind is blown but her body’s still in shock
Can’t see nothing as she’s staring at the kitchen clock
Feel so bland in the eye of the storm; it’s a bedroom day
We should switch, we should pass ourselves around
Meet me at the corner; tear your dream-home down
It’s a goddamn shit-show out here now
Something to tell you about, someone told me about
I know I’m weak and this weekend you’ll find out
Yes, I sleep at the fucking whore’s house now
In a cinematic, cinematic fades to black
Every day is a rodeo, man
No one’s gonna change, nobody ever does
No one’s gonna change, no one’s changing for you
No one’s gonna change, nobody ever does
And I’m never gonna do what you want me to
Sittin’ there speaking Greek to a college blog
Every sentence is the same, it’s just talk, talk, talk
I am one, I admit it, of a million who has it out for these soapbox idiots
Click-clack of your high heels - you’re awake
Downstairs on a tic-tac stripper’s break
Every dancer’s trying to sync to the beat
Every motherfucker in this place tells me the same shit
This whole world’s gotta buy you a drink, man
Gotta take you to the edge and watch you throw it up
Every morning I could give a damn what you did last night
Just tell me how far to kick this can
No one’s gonna change, no one ever does
No one’s gonna change, no one is changing for you
No one’s gonna change, nobody ever does
And I’m never gonna do what you want me to
But I don’t wanna feel so jaded
Getting on a plane to work things out
When I’m alone, you're all I think about
But I’m never alone very long
They say you gotta love yourself first, that’s a trip
I’ve been hating myself since I was a little kid
I know it’s sad that game’s rained out, and the bleachers emptied out
And the turnstiles spin
All the good ones in the world, they’ve been dropping dead
Everybody's got a bullet flying at their head
I seen it coming, man
I seen it coming, man
I seen it coming, no
No one ever changes, hey, that’s the truth
No one’s gonna change, no, baby, not for you!
No one ever changes, and that’s the truth
And I’m never gonna do what you want me to
Can’t see nothing as she’s staring at the kitchen clock
Feel so bland in the eye of the storm; it’s a bedroom day

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

AMAZING!! EVERYTHING the man has ever made is!! This song has been stuck in my head ever since I saw him play it live Saturday 3/11/17. It's not on the new album Salutations so I began looking for it and found it on here and on u tube as untitled. My boyfriend actually got me the set list that night and it says Solo for the title of this song.
@MaxConorBemisOberst420 Great show that night. I was there too. This song reminds me a lot of this older BE music.
@MaxConorBemisOberst420 @MaxConorBemisOberst420 Conor is my favourite artist. I have loved his music passionately since I was basically a kid. I had "first day of my life" playing as I signed my marriage register. <br /> This song isn't amazing. This is a statement to the world that he isn't fucking happy. The emotion that he has sang this song with is palpable. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was a suicide note.
@MaxConorBemisOberst420 I don't think that the word "happy" will ever be the right word to describe him or his music. Waist of paint, if winter ends, no lies just love, I won't ever be happy again, breezy, I could go on forever with examples of his music from the mid 90s up until now. My point was so many bands I listen to have changed so much over the years. I'm glad he hasn't and he stays true to who he has always been. He will always be the best artist, singer, song writer, and poet to ME. And in MY opinion he will ALWAYS be AMAZING!! I know opinions are like assholes and vocalizing your opinion can make you seem like an asshole sometimes. This was in Conor's defense, not mine. I can say whatever the f*** i want, after all it's my opinion if I thought the song was amazing.
@MaxConorBemisOberst420 also, i have been listening to Conor Oberst since i was 13 and I'm 25 now. he is my favorite artist also I own 29 of his albums from bright eyes, Conor Oberst, monsters of folk, mystic valley band, his compilation albums, desaparecidos, even albums as old as commander Venus and I'm still adding to my collection. Just wanted to say "first day of my life" is a great song but to me it's about a couple settling for each other. strange you chose that for a wedding. "but now I don't care I could go anywhere with you and I'd PROBABLY be happy so if you want to be with me, with these things there's no telling we just have to wait and see. But I'd rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery". Wow real sweet lol
@MaxConorBemisOberst420 now I'm the asshole lol
@MaxConorBemisOberst420 if they're smart enough they'll get it ;)
