Ed Sheeran – Tenerife Sea Lyrics 11 years ago
Thinking outside the box! I like it! LOL!

I have a few thoughts to contribute to your theory, though. Other celebrities who wore their hair on their necks at the 2013 Grammys include: Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood, Carly Rae Jepsen, Natasha Bedingfield, Kathy Griffin, Nicole Kidman, and Keith Urban. Keith Urban wasn't wearing a dress though, so couldn't be him, but it's probably about the rest of them. And Ellie Goulding.

Alternatively, it could be about Taylor Swift based on all the words, the song name being her initials, everything about the song....nah. You're probably right. It makes sense he would write this adorable love song about Ellie Goulding, who he basically despises.

Lana Del Rey – Florida Kilos Lyrics 11 years ago
I agree with hashtaggenius. I think you are really grasping at straws trying to make this about drugs, clouds1. Your insistence to make everything about drugs is sad, and you even took the adorable "yay snow" abbreviation and made it into a sickening nickname for illicit substances. If you need to talk to someone, I'm here for you. I'm worried you may have a drug problem. Hopefully once you see this song is about a chubby girl who wants to lose weight to move to Florida, everything in your life will become clear.

One last thing: Lana is a recovered alcoholic. These sorts of analyses undermine her sobriety and I find it to be unkind and offensive. Please think more thoughtfully about the feelings and points of view of others before acting in the future.

Taylor Swift – Mean Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is about Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer is a fraud and Taylor knows it.

The song can be interpreted to be about how to handle bullies generally, but for Taylor the focus is definitely Jennifer Lawrence. There are a few verses where this is obvious:

"You, with your switching sides and your wildfire lies and your humiliation" is about J.Law and her fake manipulative personality which masks her true cold-hearted self.

"And I can see you years from now in a bar, Talking over a football game, With that same big loud opinion, But nobody's listening." This part is about how loud and obnoxious Jennifer is all the time and for now people think she's "lovable" but eventually Taylor knows Jen will just be washed up and found out for who she really is.

"Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me" is just a reference to Taylor desiring to bulk up muscularly in order to be more able to fight Jennifer, who is always so fit for her role as Katniss Everdeen.

This song is very mature, and Taylor will win in the end.

Lana Del Rey – The Other Woman Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is really vague- it's hard to really figure out what it is getting at.

After careful analysis, I've decided it is probably about Marie Antoinette's beheading. The references to "French perfume" "lonesome Queen" and "curls in her hair" were the most telling.

I hope Lana decides to do a music video for this one starring Kristen Dunst!

Lana Del Rey – Money, Power, Glory Lyrics 11 years ago
This one is really straightforward. Lana is obsessed with cars and "Money, Power, Glory" abbreviates to be "MPG" while typically stands for "miles per gallon." The song is an ode to Lana's desire to have a fuel efficient car.

Lana Del Rey – Florida Kilos Lyrics 11 years ago
So I think this is on the right track, but is missing a lot of important details. First of all, you're right that it is about climate, but she wants to move somewhere warm and is too fat to do so. The word kilos is in the title, and is a definite hint from Lana this is about an obese person trying to lose weight by going on a diet. This individual wants to move to a tropical climate and have "guns in the summertime" (guns being toned arm muscles).

The narrator is clearly obsessed with food: in the first verse she mentions baking soda, a common ingredient in baked goods which are not typically allowed on diets. The mention of Cherry Cola Lime is an even more important reference because it serves as a flashback to when the narrator was less healthy and consumed carbonated beverages filled with sugar- the reference to prison in the following line sends this point home. Sugar consumption historically put her into the prison of obesity.

So basically I totally agree with your thinking that weather is involved, but also think you didn't correctly assess the climate she wanted to be in, or why. Good effort though. She's just a girl that's too fat to live in Florida, but is going on a diet so she can.

Lana Del Rey – Shades of Cool Lyrics 11 years ago
Lana wrote this song from the perspective of human who is infatuated with a Smurf. The opening lines "My baby lives in shades of blue, blue eyes and jazz and attitude" make this theme evident immediately, because Smurfs are known for their blue coloring.

The narrator clearly met their Smurf crush in California, probably while he was filming a Smurf movie in Hollywood. The pressures of being an actor led the Smurf to a life of drug abuse ("he loves his drugs") and promiscuity; as a consequence of this reckless behavior, the Smurf has an illegitimate child- we know this from the line "he loves his baby too."

Regardless of these potential deal breakers, the narrator continues to obsess over the Smurf throughout the song, but she gets progressively more and more frustrated with the social constructs and barriers preventing her from pursuing the Smurf more seriously. For example, "I can't do nothing about his strange weather" is a clear allusion to the famously dismal weather in Smurf Village, which is notorious for giving Smurfs Seasonal Affective Disorder in the winter months. Unfortunately, since humans can't even find Smurf Village, she couldn't help with this at all.

Overall, the theme of the song is forbidden love, because humans and Smurfs are not the same species. The reason why she says "I can't break through your world" is because the Smurf population won't accept a human into their society, even in this day and age. Lana clearly wrote this song to spread awareness of human-Smurf romance in the hopes that someday, this sort of relationship will be seen as socially acceptable.

Lana Del Rey – Afraid Lyrics 11 years ago
This is about Lana's fear of the dark and how her boyfriend did not support her emotionally when she tried to conquer said fear; this led to their breakup. I will list a few lyrics with a brief explanation in order to best expound on this theory:

"Driving in your fast car looking at the stars above. But it was not enough"
This part shows that the stars did not provide enough light for her to feel safe with her intense fear of the dark.

"You should never come between a woman and a dream"
This is describing how her boyfriend did not help her overcome her fear, so she was always unable to sleep. Since she couldn't sleep, she couldn't dream.

"It's not love that keeps me here"
By "here" what she means is in the bed. She did not stay in the bed with him because she loved him- she stayed because she was afraid to walk across the room in the darkness.

Lana Del Rey – Ultraviolence Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is clearly about Jim Crow laws and how horrible it was for so many in America after Plessy vs. Ferguson. She says Jim a bunch of times which is what makes this so obvious.

Furthermore, the song mentions going "back to New York" thus emphasizing how much more brutal it was to live in the South during this era.

Also, she mentions hearing sirens and violins which proves this is about Jim Crow beyond a shadow of a doubt. Violin music was really popular during Reconstruction when the Supreme Court made this decision. Lastly, sirens is talking about police brutality that occurred when the cruel and racist "separate but equal laws" were violated.

Lana Del Rey – Fucked My Way Up to the Top Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song is about Lana losing her virginity to Axl Rose.

The line that gives it away most is "Lay me down tonight in my linen and curls" because when they went out to dinner that one time, she was wearing linen and her hair was wavy (aka curls)

Also she probably got tested for STDs because Axl Rose probably has some because he is a rockstar.
