Regina Spektor – Somedays Lyrics 14 years ago
I am overwhelmed with emotions listening to this song... I have such a story to tell.

A year ago, I "fell in love" with a violinist at a music camp. That violin part toward the end had me in tears every time after that short week, simply because I didn't think I'd ever see him again. Now, due to some kind of miracle, he's in my music class at a school I'd never thought I'd be going to at the time. I've discovered so much Regina since obsessing over this song, but now, going back to it, it's almost more of an emotional landslide than last year.

Ah, storytime...

Regina Spektor – Rejazz Lyrics 14 years ago
OK, I just have to share my sob story.

Two years in a row this song has applied to my life, but in two different ways.

Last year, I went to a music camp and throughout the week I developed a small "crush" on one of my campmates. After I left the camp, I didn't think I would ever see him again. However, I didn't think it was a huge deal. This song was basically my life. Anyway, I ended up seeing him in one of the most unexpected of places but that would take too long to explain so I'll just cut to the next half of my story.

After seeing guy #1 in that unexpected place, I was very looking forward to this camp again this year, hoping that he would be there. So, upon entering the campus with intent for igniting my old feelings for this guy... he wasn't there. So, I thought, whatever, boo hoo. I was half expecting that. The problem I'm left with is that my heart was expecting feelings, so I piled them on someone else. Now, I'm expecting to see him again and again in unexpected places like guy #1, and I just have to let myself move on. So this time around, I'm trying to get the song to help me along in getting over him, rather than listening to the song and thinking, "This is so true for my life!" That's just what I'm trying to get to by the end of this summer.

Anyway, I just felt like I had to say it all somewhere and this seemed like the least inappropriate place to do so. And that's my sob story.

Parachute – Forever and Always Lyrics 14 years ago
I just got this album a few days ago and listening to the songs, I wasn't really picking up what was going on, but reading the lyrics alone was enough to have me tearing up.

Anyway, just gonna state the obvious for the purposes of this site: I am pretty sure that this song is about a couple who recently got married and had so many plans for happiness, but the man is injured or ill or something. So, they're in the hospital and they're hoping with all the hope they have that everything is going to be OK. Well, the man says that even if things don't go OK, to always remember him and that he will love the girl forever and always (hence the title of the song).

This is so touching and sad. I was at a Parachute concert two days ago and they played this and... it was so different from the rest of the songs they performed which had a little more excitement. I love them, though... I am very close to Kit's family and apparently Johnny's as well, as I just recently learned that his sister babysat me many years ago and apparently Johnny "[hadn't] seen me since [I] was this big!" (insert hand indications that I was an infant).

Parachute – All That I Am Lyrics 14 years ago
I wish they were still Sparky's Flaw, too. Granted, back when they were still called Sparky's Flaw, I wasn't really old enough to independently choose my music. I had a whole lot of t-shirts, though, that said Sparky's Flaw on them... they don't fit anymore.

Anyhow, they had to change their name because Nivea was having them do a song for their commercial and they didn't want a band whose name had the word "flaw" in it.

I thought it was "duodenum" not "deuodenum". I guess there could be different spellings, but even Google denies that "deuodenum" is right.

Rihanna – Rude Boy Lyrics 14 years ago
It's funny because reading through some comments, I've noticed that the majority of the posts that speak of the song negatively (without completely overreacting like TrilliantG) use somewhat-correct English, grammar, punctuation, etc., whereas the ones raving about how amazing and artistic the song is use quite a bit of... none of the above list.

It's not what the whole public wants to hear. It may be what a small group of the public who enjoys and appreciates this genre of music and this topic, but I assure you that the whole public is more than that. I am part of the public, but I strongly dislike this song and it is most certainly not what I want to hear. It's not even that I find it offensive, I'm just into a completely different genre of music. Oh, and BTW, it's "an artist" not "a artist".

Michael Bublé – Kissing A Fool Lyrics 14 years ago
Most of Michael Bublè's songs are covers. In my opinion, I think it's better than trying to write songs and failing like other people do. Nowadays people think it's all about being a singer and a songwriter, but not everyone is gifted with both (although some people think they are when really... they're not) and I think it's good that he doesn't write a ton of crap songs. Sure, he does have a few songs that he wrote, but I don't think they're as good as his covers.

Michael Bublé – Hollywood Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's not necessarily about Californians specifically, but more about people who think that if they "go Hollywood" or become famous, their life will be perfect, whereas becoming famous can lead you to becoming materialistic, conceited, a drunkard, etc.

The general message that I'm getting is that sometimes, things aren't as good as they seem.

While I love that you share me disappointment of BEP's decrease in quality, there are a few things in your argument that I hate to have to point out. First of all, it's Mick Jagger. That's his full name; his last name isn't McJagger. Second, Replay is by IYAZ, not Sean Kingston (which is a common misconception, although I'd thought it was well known by now that it was by IYAZ).

Frank Sinatra – I've Got You Under My Skin Lyrics 15 years ago
This is very obviously a song about parasites. I mean, if you really listen to the lyrics, it makes perfect sense. chiggers=under my skin, heart worms=deep in the heart of me. Then he does on to say how "you are a part of me" clearly describing a parasite that someone is born with. Later, the song states that "I try so not to give in. I said to myself this affair, it never will go so well." That's talking about deliberately consuming tapeworms. He's trying to fight it because he knows that it's wrong, but he can't resist because he wants to lose weight (hey, I didn't say it, he did). "Don't you know you fool, you never can win. Use your mentality, wake up to reality." <-- that is the parasite talking to him. It's saying that there is no cure.

Regina Spektor – Silly Eye Color Generalizations Lyrics 15 years ago
I changed my mind. Well, no, I didn't necessarily change my mind, I just thought of a better way to say what I'm thinking. I think this song is about judging people based on appearance. There are all these crazy statements you can make about a small thing like eye color that just completely describe your personality, and then she says, "When you're lying in your bed, darkness 'round your head, your eyes might as well be polka-dotted or plaid." So basically, all these generalizations are kind of pointless because what about when no one can see your eyes?

I think this song is about how you can make generalizations about physical traits (or any traits, for that matter, I suppose) but really, it doesn't matter because, like Regina said, "When you're lying in your bed, darkness 'round your head, your eyes might as well be polka-dotted or plaid." Eye colors are just something that people see.
