| The Gun Club – Goodbye Johnny Lyrics

I reckon it's about having to get out of New York, the Heroin scene and away from his friend Johnny Thunders. He's describing beauty and freedom that's out there, at the same time trying to explain to him I'm still thinking of you but I am broken and I need to get well. |

Beautiful song, dark lyrics. A vampire moon, which the myth tells us is when vampires are at the peak of their blood lust. I think the person is a serial killer with a dark mission just like a vampire wanting blood. |

Uptown is usually cocaine as down town is heroin. The lyrics are contradictory in this one. Has she scored and tried to say she hasn't? He's trying to convince her to give him some of what she's got, saying he's been doing well c'mon throw me a bone(dregs even) I think tied up is a metaphor for keeping him clean and under wraps. Still he forces the issue and she cries knowing he's gonna fuck up anyway. |

| Afghan Whigs – What Jail Is Like Lyrics

There are drug references yes but I don't see this as a drug song. Remember drugs and sex/love are easily interchangeable. It's about his fear of domesticity and how that lifestyle feels like prison. What scares him more is one who allows him to indulge in his vices. Enabling or worse encouraging his internal demons and that's a frightening partner/cell mate for a person attempting any kind of reform. . |

I feel like it's Greg aware of an invisible force or evil devouring his relationship and it's feeding on mistrust. It sounds like someone has told her about his actions and he's had to tell the truth. He's saying anything to keep her and becomes aware that within the truth the liar is present. He's not a bad guy just chained to his own shameful urges. Also he expresses his inner child that's not ready to go it alone. Really he wants his girlfriend to also be his mum. As if she could be that unconditional. |

| Afghan Whigs – Let Me Lie To You Lyrics

Another about sexual infidelity. He's saying just believe what I say without question or you will be hurt and I love you and want you to stay. He's managed to separate his love from his lust and believes that if he can pursue his urges without question, they'll be happy. First thing though is believe the lie, it's the only way we can stay together. It's what you don't know wont hurt you or ignorance is bliss, it's a way to have his cake and eat it too. Because he needs that thrill and lying about it is his way of protecting her from his shadow side. |

This song sounds like he's being honest with a girl about how his infidelity and he doesn't want her to say anything, yell, fight, abuse him as if he's disgusted enough with his own behaviour that nothing can come from talking but conflict. He's truly dreading this conversation because he cares for her but there is no way to hurt her or come off like an asshole. Lose lose to someone he may or may not love. |

First verse is about his sex addiction. Second verse he has moved to drugs (the analogy of she was the perfect fit, we started to make each other sick) sounds like heroin addiction and him not wanting it. All the time he's trying to explain deep down despite all his vices and destructive behaviour, that he's actually a good guy. As if he's searching for that part, knows it's there but constantly is lured back by his vices. |

| R.E.M. – Bandwagon Lyrics

It sounds to me like this bandwagon is an idealist lie they tell, (almost as a joke about their predicament) to recruit other musicians as there's only them on this ride and they'd desperately love some company. All they do is go on horse and cart (Probably a reference to their terrible transport) from one tiny red-neck flag waving town to the next. Or maybe Las Vegas or somewhere as disinterested. Yes fair-weather friend I think he means when he says about the weather forgetting us. As they are the true to the cause and you will be excepted (More from desperation and loneliness but need like minded souls. He's trying to sell it by appealing to other musicians sense of community and friendship being the pay-off here. Which is a total laugh. This is just before R.E.M. got to the next level remember and had been on the same slow incline for quite a while. It's funny. I've done my time in bands and as my mum used to say "Misery loves company" |

| Franz Ferdinand – Treason! Animals. Lyrics

Pretty much what essanay thinks. This person (could be the singer) Has made himself the head or alpha of his world but he realizes he's nothing without his yes men. He's spent too much time on his own talking to himself, looking at himself, questioning who he is and he's starting to not believe in his own self importance anymore. His peers or underlings are the ones that give him his self belief and he's realized he's nothing without them. He needs to be lost in his own lie because without it there is no meaning. Better happy and deluded. |

@[thaees:104] Sodomize? C'mon! Where do you get that from?! It sounds like a brief journey about Richard getting clean from drugs, deciding to have a child and discovering a love he'd never encountered in life before. That which is one for his daughter. "Lover" is metaphorical not lyrical. At least most would hope. |

Pretty sure it's about amphetamines. Theodor Morell was Hitlers doctor who made concoctions of drugs with many containing methamphetamine. |
