Bad Religion – American Jesus Lyrics 11 years ago
The backup singers (one of them is Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam) are singing:
In God we trust because he's one of us
Break down; cave in; we can redeem your sins
Strong heart, clear mind, and infinitely kind
You lose; we win; he is our champion

In my opinion, those are the most powerful lyrics of the song. They're so simple but highly expressive of the song's overall message in my opinion.

The Gits – Here's To Your Fuck Lyrics 11 years ago
Oh, and let me add something: I think that the song is sung towards the man, who used to be Mia's boyfriend, and a woman, who used to be one of Mia's friends, and Mia's boyfriend cheated on Mia with Mia's friend. I think the line "Have fun with prickface 'cause you sure fucking blew it with me" implicates Mia's friend as the second person: she blew her friendship with Mia because of the affair.

The Gits – Here's To Your Fuck Lyrics 11 years ago
I love this song... I love this entire album and EVERY song on it... and I love this band.

Obviously, this is a vitriolic hate song to somebody. It sounds like it's sung towards a man and a woman; the man cheated on Mia, and "when she found out, it wasn't a shock," and so now she's bitter towards not only the man, but also towards the woman who he cheated on her with. I think the line "You sure got a fucked-up way of making friends" helps substantiate this.

One of the greatest covers of all time. Hands down.

Good Riddance almost always makes good covers, but this is amazing in and of itself. It's a PERFECT ending to a nearly perfect album.

He's saying that Youth of Today is mixed with crappy stuff.

You can tell because Youth of Today fits with the other Punk records mentioned, while the "crappy stuff" is Hair Metal like Hanoi Rocks and Guns N' Roses.

For example, Youth of Today next to Hanoi Rocks; Underdogs next to Guns N' Roses; Paul Stanley next to Subhumans...

Alyak —— not everything has to be about drugs. I don't understand how nearly every song that fits into any category of Rock is often categorized as a song about drugs. Can't it just be a love song —— which it is??

The Hellacopters – Throw Away Heroes Lyrics 12 years ago
This is my favorite song from "High Visibility!" It rocks so hard, doesn't let up, and the piano blended with the gritty rock sounds beautiful, and the solo will bring you to your knees. These guys rock, and I wish I had had a chance to see them live. I bet they'd bring the house down.

Frenzal Rhomb – Prognosis: Fuck You Lyrics 12 years ago
These are totally wrong lyrics. These are the lyrics to "Fuck You and Your Stupid Band."

THESE are the lyrics to "Prognosis Fuck You:"

Tis the season to be jealous
Sold out country, right of passage
Behold the first world, entertain me
Mass sedation, the stench of bullshit

Whose God unites red, white, and black?
Not the one on channel two
So much left to lose, prognosis

Sleep in anger, rise in petrol
Distant pain of system failure

But there is no conspiracy, a total world control
So much left to lose, right to be abused
Prognosis, fuck

Whose God Unites red, white, and black?
Not the one on channel two
So much left to lose, right to be abused
Nothing left to choose
Prognosis, fuck you

Good Riddance – Bobby Baun Lyrics 12 years ago
Bobby Baun was a professional Hockey player for 17 seasons between 1956 and 1973. I've looked him up, and I can't find anything that relates Bobby Baun as a person to the song or the lyrics or anything. So I'm guessing that it was one of those where they wanted to name a song after him for no real reason; maybe they're big fans or something.

Anyways, this is my favorite Good Riddance song, and Good Riddance is one of my favorite bands... therefore, I guess you can say that this is one of my all-time favorite songs. Everything about it, to me, is flawless. They inject SO MUCH EMOTION into this particular song, so much feeling, and the lyrics are so deep and emotional, too. Usually, Good Riddance uses rage, but this is where they use longing and sadness. It's fantastic. They should've done more songs like this, and songs like this make me miss them so much...

Good Riddance – Slowly Lyrics 12 years ago
This is one of my all-time favorite Good Riddance songs. It's so pretty but loyal to their style and genre.

I think it's about a guy, the narrator, who sees a girl going out with a less-than-ideal guy (whether he's a cheater/player, abuser, druggie, just plain mean, or whatever). And the narrator is great friends with this girl (hence why she'd call him and excitedly tell him that she's going on a date). The narrator also has romantic feelings for the girl, though, and he cares for her enough to warn her that this guy isn't all that great and that the guy is one of the manipulative ones ("It's just a game they play"). The chorus is the aftermath of the disastrous relationship. The second verse is, too, to a further extent concerning time placement.

The fact that the narrator also has feelings for the girl is evident with the line, "Just remember that there's plenty of boys out there / Who could treat you much better / And remember, I care" because he's making himself an available option.

Again, it's an awesome song. The whole "Ballads from the Revolution" album is fantastic, but this is easily the best song from it.

Propagandhi – Nailing Descartes to the Wall/(Liquid) Meat Is Still Murder Lyrics 12 years ago
For those of you who don't know (I just figured this out, too), the line "Me and a gun and a different species" references the song "Me and a Gun" by Tori Amos, which is about rape. It really comes together when you consider the straightforward, spell-it-out blunt lyrics, "Meat is still murder / Dairy is still rape."

This is a fantastic song, easily one of the best from the album!

Good Riddance – Spit You Out Lyrics 12 years ago
This is one of my favorite songs from "Symptoms of a Leveling Spirit." It's so vicious compared to most of the material on the album, and it brings back their trademark anger to close the album fantastically (not regarding the hidden track).

In my opinion, it's about both loss of hope, and extreme cynicism. The chorus really says both to me. The first verse really says loss of hope. Referring to the world or people as "they" (as in, as a whole) marks the narrator as a cynic because he/she generalizes about humans and the world as a whole that they/we will "spit [them] out."

By the way, easily one of Good Riddance's greatest instances of songwriting is this: "Some people break like glass / It just might be their final chance to feel." That is just beautiful.

Good Riddance – Trial Of The Century Lyrics 12 years ago
It seems like a song just about youthfulness and growing up, and how each year seems to drag because our minds want to put us in college and hurry our lives up. I guess I would know, being a teenager who is restless for the year to end!

Good Riddance is a beautiful band. They never fail to amaze me with their lyrics, Russ's incredible voice, and their powerful delivery. Easily one of my favorites.

submissions
The Cult – Wake up Time for Freedom Lyrics 12 years ago
Even though the lyrics won't show, it's a beautiful song, easily one of their best. It's long, making time for all of the beauty that they want to inject into it. The guitar solo is magical.

My best bet is that it's about a guy who escapes from jail or from a police officer's car, but he gets killed in the attempt. I'm bad at analyzing songs, though...

Bad Religion – Wrong Way Kids Lyrics 13 years ago
I remember once seeing a Greg Graffin interview on YouTube from 1984; he was talking about how he had the right atmosphere growing up to go the right way and that he didn't like seeing his peers crashing and burning, even though that was what they were doing. He probably has no idea how amazing he is, and how much that interview has changed my life.

Anyways, that's pretty much what this is about. I just wish there were less families like this and no need to sing songs about this, because it's sad.

Bad Religion – Wrong Way Kids Lyrics 13 years ago
I couldn't agree more. I love it when bands like Bad Religion sing to the dysfunctional families of the world. I was more than fortunate to have the right role models, my parents and an older brother, and it's hard for me to think of a life unlike that although my classmates, all around me, about 1/5th of my peers, had nobody to look up to except for their friends' parents, their friends, and themselves. That's hard to think of.

The Offspring – D.U.I. Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't see why everyone's fighting so much. I mean, great, there are two songs with the same name by two unique Punk bands (well, one Pop Punk band). Everyone has different taste; personally I prefer this D.U.I. But there are plenty that like Green Day's better. People have different tastes. Let's live with that.

Aside from that, DANG this song is catchy. I had my iPod on shuffle but when this played I put it on repeat. These guys rock; all the extra songs on their singles are amazing like Sin City from Million Miles Away. Noodles lives in my heart as with Dexter, Greg, and Pete. Love them!!

You have no clue of how stupid you sound. Of course Maynard's bald; have you seen the interview where he says he wants to keep his stardom out of his son's life, so he wears wigs as a disguise? The Offspring – No Hero Lyrics 13 years ago
I mean, The Offspring really need to do more songs like this. Not many bands touch on the subjects of loss and suicide, but The Offspring can and should more often. Their fun songs like Pretty Fly and Don't Pick It Up are cool, but they can really speak to people (like me) with deeper, emotional, meaningful songs like this, Gone Away, Amazed, Change The World, The End of the Line, etc. These guys can put poetry in motion. Great song from an underrated and ignored album. I know what this feels like all too much, trying to reach out to someone when it's already too late...

Goldfinger – Woodchuck Lyrics 13 years ago
These guys are ridiculous... but that's a good thing.
No comments in 7 years... Now, that's ridiculous, and that 'ridiculous' is a bad thing.

It's a funny and really spontaneous song, and the whole album is cool, but nothing beats the self-titled debut.

The Offspring – Sin City Lyrics 13 years ago
Out of every song The Offspring has covered, I'd least expect this one. But I'm glad they chose this one---this is my favorite cover by them. This is really amazing. They did it this time, and though it doesn't sound like them (especially not at Conspiracy of One), it's amazing. Dexter's vocals are insane here.

You know how they say no cover is better than the original? I don't think this is better, maybe tied or something. But whoever said that "no AC/DC song is good" come on, seriously? Can you say that with a straight face? Plus, hate to say it, but I really do like Bon Scott more than Brian Johnson, and Bon sings on this one... and he does a phenomenal job. Thumbs up to both versions.

Less Than Jake – Motto Lyrics 13 years ago
This song is just about that thing that you love, the one thing that keeps you going, keeps you sane.

Aside from that, this is my favorite Less Than Jake song. I'm serious. Even though it doesn't feature much of the Ska section, it's still a really awesome song.

The Offspring – One Fine Day Lyrics 13 years ago
Ah, another (perfect) example of The Offspring's wry sarcasm... I love these guys. They just take a straightforward subject and make it all sarcastic. Just like "Cool To Hate," which is an equally awesome song. :)

The Refreshments – Girly Lyrics 13 years ago
Dude, really, the same comment 5 times?

Anyways, I interpreted this the same way he did: these people in a relationship get in really bad fights, most of these fights being instigated by the girl, who is most likely a *bit* abusive. The fights are so bad to the point where they are nearly through with each other, but they keep doing it all over again. The guy picks himself back up so it can happen... over and over again.

88 Fingers Louie – Pent Up Lyrics 13 years ago
I'm surprised this song doesn't have any comments --- It's amazing!

Anyways, the meaning's kinda self-explanatory when you read over the lyrics a bit. It's about not wanting to leave home, just wanting to stay where you are and isolate yourself. It's a feeling we all (should) have; I know I feel like that the majority of the time.

These guys are really awesome; they really nailed it with this song, one of my favorites.

The Offspring – Hit That Lyrics 13 years ago
Lots of these lyrics are wrong. Here are the corrections as I've seen on some different sites:

The winds of fortune don't blow the same
She had to get out and make a change
She had a kid, now, but much too young
The baby's dad is out having fun

He's saying "I'm on a roll
With all the girls I know"
His baby mama, she ain't so slow
He's saying "I'm on a roll
With all the girls I know"
I know you wanna Hit That
I know you wanna
Hit That, Hit That
All the world is gettin' with, I say
Consequences are a lot but hey,
That's the way
That's the way things go

What was a family is now a shell
We're raising kids now who raise themselves
Sex is a weapon, it's like a drug
It gets him right into that
Grave that he just dug

She's saying "I'm on the run
I'm chasing guys for fun"
Her baby daddy, it ain't his only one
She's saying "I'm on the run
I'm chasing guys for fun"
I know you wanna Hit That
I know you wanna
Hit That, Hit That
Everybody's gettin' with, I say
Consequences are a lot, but hey,
That's the way
That's the way things go

Well, it winds up
Broken up, really such a shame
But why not
Take a chance? Everything's a game
And it don't stop
Hookin' up, nothing's gonna change
Well, the more he's trying
The more he's buying

He says "I'm on a roll
With all the girls I know"
His baby mama don't need to know
He's saying "I'm on a roll
With all the girls I know"
I know you wanna Hit That
I know you wanna
Hit That, Hit That
All the world is gettin' with, I say
Consequences are a lot but hey
That's the way
That's the way things go

Why doesn't this song have any comments!? It's amazing! This is my favorite song by them even though it doesn't have any Folk elements, but it's still really cool. :)

By the way, the meaning seems kinda self-explanatory. I'm guessing that it's a guy that's kept something in his heart for over 20 years, and he needs to let it go because he's wasting his time crying over it.

Justin Bieber – Baby Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't get it. How can this song exist, and then there are thousands of great songs throughout history that have been nearly, if not completely, forgotten? What about all the great artists in history that actually played instruments?

What happened to songwriters like John Lennon? What happened to clever rhymes and clever lyrics and lyrics filled with fun innuendos? Are we really doomed to "Baby (x9) Thought you'd always be mine" as every song's chorus? What has the songwriting (and music world, in general) gone to?

My last questions: Do you really think people are going to remember Justin Bieber in 25 years time? Will he make Rolling Stone's 100 Best Artists list, like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys and all the other great groups before "he" came along? Because we've remembered The Beatles for almost 50 years... Just making that a little point......

John Lennon – Tight A$ Lyrics 13 years ago
Vintage Beauty - Of course he wrote this. John Lennon is one of the best songwriters in history; he can write just about anything that comes to his mind. And one thing he can do that loads of other people CAN'T is make lyrics like that look and sound good.

He's a legend. It's a track off of his album, "Mind Games." Of course he wrote it; he can write about just about anything. He's amazing.

The Offspring – I Choose Lyrics 13 years ago
I think the song's pretty self-explanatory with the chorus: Life can be messed up, and it can be a nightmare, but only if you MAKE it a nightmare. If you choose to make it a fun thing, and you have fun and don't mess it up for yourself, it'll be fun. And he's saying that he's gonna choose to make his life "a playground" and have fun with it while he still has it. Because when he hits the bottom, like how he's falling, he's not gonna have it anymore... so he just wants to make as much fun of it as he can while he still has its clay to mold.

This is their first really "poppy" song, and I'm surprised that this didn't get as popular as Pretty Fly, Original Prankster, Hit That, and the rest of their "poppy" songs... but I really do love this song, and it's got a great meaning behind it. Ixnay on the Hombre is an amazing album, and I highly recommend it!

This song is amazing. I love its beat and the guitars and everything. This song is pretty self-explanatory: It's a guy that likes a girl, and he will go to all means to make sure they end up becoming an item.

The Offspring – Nitro (Youth Energy) Lyrics 13 years ago
This is one of my favorite songs from them... Ah, Smash rocks. But shut it with the selling out crap. Any band would get old if they didn't change. On top of that, Punk being used to label music is sad. Punk means expression and being who you are or want to be.

Anyways, this song is my anthem. One of my friends recently died in their sleep of a heart condition that nobody knew about... Till after he died. Real young, and a nice guy, too. Death creeps up to anybody at any time. Therefore we need to live life to the fullest while we have it. After all, we each owe a death. Till that... Live life to the fullest. :)

Tool – The Pot Lyrics 14 years ago
I'm not sure if I'm right, but here's my two cents:

I think it's about how the government bans pot. But behind closed doors, they smoke it themselves, and Tool is calling them hypocrites because they do exactly what they made illegal. And they're saying that the government "must've been high" when they decided to make what they use illegal. And "Who are you to wave your finger?" sort of sums it up, "Why are law officials pointing their fatty fingers at us? They do the same stuff." And "Kangaroo be stoned; he's as guilty as the government" sounds like the kangaroo (kangaroo being used as a figure of speech) gets 'stoned' like the government and that makes the kangaroo just as guilty as the government officials that get stoned. And the "muddy water" is what color pot is in water: dark brown? I dunno, I've heard that somewhere. And the "lemon juice" part talks about how the government is blind, as it's hard to see with lemon juice in your eyes.

I might not be right, I'm honestly not sure if I am myself... but I'd love to hear if I'm even close. :)

This song is amazing, as well as this band!

I think this song is about some dude that basically abandons his whole life (home, family, friends, etc.) to drink. He drinks until death do him and his drinks apart (when it repeats "one more round and it's bottles to the ground" at the very end).

I honestly don't think I have a clue, that's just my opinion.
