David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust Lyrics 14 years ago
Who, to be honest, cares who exactly Ziggy is?
The songs about a rock star who went a bit to far, had a massive ego, thought he was the best, etc, etc
This really annoyed his band so they killed him (which is harsh!)
But boy could Ziggy play guitar

David Bowie – TVC 15 Lyrics 14 years ago
I love this. My dad said its about the guy in "The Man Who Fell To Earth" who watched 15 tv screens at one time cos he could take it all in. No idea if thats true or not though.

To me its a bit like a story of a guy with a cool machine that sucks his girlfriend into a parallel world, and he wants her back.

David Bowie – Starman Lyrics 14 years ago
You could base a whole religion on this!!! Like, there is a huge, mega-awesome alien out there, who influences tv and radio, and he would come down but everyone's minds would blow up because of the awesomness of it. So children should be taught only to communicate and understand stuff with dance, and so when he does come it will be worthwhile for them and they can all boogie together!

Wow, i'm insane. And I myself wouldn't actually make a new religion based on this song. I love Jesus too much.

David Bowie – Rebel Rebel Lyrics 14 years ago
I sang the chorus at my friend today. She was like, "I know you ove me, but I'm not a tramp." Well, she didn't actually say it, but it was all over her face. LOL

David Bowie – Loving the Alien Lyrics 14 years ago
Being a Jesus Freak myself, I find this song amusing. One day I shall sing it at someone and ask if they think its a christian song, and then be like "Nooooooo its David Bowie, you idiotic moron!"

(I'd be joking about the idiotic moron bit. And it'd be to a friend. That would be horrifically un-christian to call a complete stranger an idiotic moron because they didn't know a DB song.)

David Bowie – Fashion Lyrics 14 years ago
I love the end bit. I find myself going "fa-fa-fa-fa-fashion" without realising it. I may have done it on the bus once. I also sing it at my friends to annoy them. And I made up a dance to the chorus. Gosh, I'm so sad.......

Delirious? – Grace Like A River Lyrics 14 years ago
There is absolutely no reason for God to love us. We are imperfect human beings who mess up again and again, yet God loves us, wants to spend time with us, and wants us to live the best lives we can. He pours grace upon us in a rushing torrent like a river. The only thing we can do in return is surrender to Him and live for Him, carrying this rugged cross. It will be hard sometimes, but the grace still keeps flowing down.

Newsboys – In Christ Alone Lyrics 14 years ago
"No power of hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from His hand"
I love that line so much. Nothing anyone can ever do will ever stop me loving Jesus. Nothing anyone can ever do will make me leave my Saviour. Nothing anyone can ever do will remove me from the hand of God.

And I love the way they play it at my church on "Then bursting forth in glorious day..."
The music gets louder and everyone's voices lift up and its beautiful.... *wipes tears from eyes*

Whatever happens we should praise God's blessed name. When we are happy, when we are sad, when life is good, when we are suffering.... no matter what we should bless the name above all names!

Switchfoot – Beautiful Letdown Lyrics 14 years ago
Its saying that its a letdown that they (we) don't belong here, on planet earth, so that all we have made for ourselves, our possessions, etc are kinda worthless (although not unimportant - i'm not saying that we may as well sit and do nothing if its all worthless cos thats not true!!!) but its beautiful cos where we do belong - Heaven - is so awesome.

And its beautiful that life and this world and people we know and all that let us down but God picks us up and looks after us always!

It was beautiful the day they (the person's POV in the song) fell and as a result found Jesus.

Lifehouse – Everything Lyrics 14 years ago
I absolutely LOVE the skit that goes with this song (you can find it on YouTube if you type in Lifehouse Everything Skit) it is so beautiful. It makes me cry a LOT. When it says "you're all I want" and she starts running back and trying to get to God and..... I just break down. Maybe I like crying. I cry at a lot of things. I cried in the Hannah Montana movie, and I don't even like her, I only went to see it as a dare.

Delirious? – Majesty (Here I Am) Lyrics 14 years ago
I got this CD (well, the Greatest Hits, but have the album its on too - World Service) and I was listening to it once just randomly, and I was struck by God's prescence and the Holy Spirit and I just broke down and cried. Its such a beautiful song. It was the "Now I've the greatest love of all is mine, since you laid down your life, the greatest sacrafice" bit. I was just randomly and suddenly hit by the fact that God loves ME.....GOD loves me..... God LOVES me!!! That amazing, unconditional, beautiful, fulfilling, never-ending, uber-powerful love is MINE! All because of what Jesus did. Thats overwhelming. It still overwhelms me sometimes. Its just, like, wow! God loves me and I have a relationship with him. With the guy who can do anything. The guy who created the world! WOW!!!!!!

Delirious? – Every Little Thing Lyrics 14 years ago
Reminds me of one of my friends too! She's had depression and she self harms and has tried to commit suicide and she is so against God. I pray for her so much, and one day God will move, I am sure. I won't give up hope.

This song is so true. Every little thing WILL be alright. God is carrying us.

Delirious? – Find Me In The River Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is so meaningful and I'm surprised there's no comments before mine. This song means a lot to me so I've decided to do a sort of line by line analysis. Thats how sad I am!

Find me in the river (I'm here waiting for you)
Find me on my knees (I'm submitting myself)
I've walked against the water (I've been trying to walk the opposite way)
Now I'm waiting if you please (Now I've stopped and am waiting for you)

We've longed to see the roses (We wanted all the beauty of Christian life)
But never felt the thorns (But never realised the suffering that may be involved)
And bought our pretty crowns (We made ourselves seem better than others)
But never paid the price (But there is a price for that)

Find me in the river (So come find me here)
Find me there (obvious)
Find me on my knees with my soul laid bare (I'm laying it all down, there is nothing I can hide from you)
Even though you're gone and I'm cracked and dry (I've felt like you're gone and its made me dry)
Find me in the river, I'm waiting here (obvious)

Find me in the river (I've said)
Find me on my knees (I've said)
I've walked against the water (I've said too)
Now I'm waiting if you please (...)

We didn't count on suffering (We didn't realise it would be this hard)
We didn't count on pain (We didn't realise it would hurt)
But if the blessing's in the valley (But if good times are to come)
Then in the river I will wait (I will wait until the river (hard times) has worn away the land and created a beautiful valley)

Delirious? – Feel It Comin' On Lyrics 14 years ago
This became really meaningful to me at one point when I felt far from God. I would say "Lord, I want to see you again. I want to feel your presence."
This song really helped me. I think its about how sometimes in our life we "grow up" and realise we need God's presence again and that we need to start doing what He tells us to do. And when God calls your name it IS like heaven :)

Delirious? – Everyone Knows Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this is saying that he acknowledges that God is awesome and that His love is amazing, and he wants people to see this in his life and know that he is influenced by God.

Switchfoot – Dare You To Move Lyrics 14 years ago
I saw Switchfoot live at The Big Church day Out 2010 and they were AMAZING!!!! I met them afterwards. It was sooooooooo cool! I was like "AARRGGHHH I'm talking to SWITCHFOOT!!!" Way cool!

I can't remember his exact words but Jon more or less said this song was about movement (well duh!) and getting up and moving for God even when everyone else isn't and will judge you for it.

To me this song is about how the past doesn't need to matter anymore. Redemption, forgiveness and salvation are always available to you. So you can carry on living life as you are or accept it, get up of the floor, and live life to the full. The bits about tension is saying there will be a strain between who you are now and how much better you could be, and between the way the world is and how it should be. The movement is also us needing to make that change from who you are and how life is to what you could be and how life should be.

I heard this song once quite late in the evening on UCB UK radio and I was on my own in my room in the dark (a habit when listening to music) and my heart just burst out of me. It was beautiful. Praise God!
