Dancing in the Street Lyrics

OK,
Tokyo, South America, Australia, France, Germany, UK, Africa

Calling out around the world
Are you ready for a brand new beat
Summer's here and the time is right
For dancing in the streets
They're dancing in Chicago
Down in New Orleans
In New York City

All we need is music, sweet music
There'll be music everywhere
They'll be swinging, swaying, records playing,
Dancing in the street, oh

It doesn't matter what you wear, just as long as you are there
So come on, every guy, grab a girl, everywhere, around the world
They'll be dancing, dancing in the street

It's an invitation across the nation, a chance for folks to meet
They'll be laughing and singing, music swinging
Dancing in the street

Philadelphia, PA
Baltimore in DC now
Don't forget the motor city
On the streets of Brazil
Back in the USSR
No matter where you are

All we need is music, sweet music
There'll be music everywhere
They'll be swinging, swaying, records playing
Dancing in the street, oh

It doesn't matter what you wear
Just as long as you are there
So come on every guy, grab a girl, everywhere, around the world
They'll be dancing, dancing in the streets

Way down in L.A., everyday
Dancing in the streets
Cross in China too
Me and you
Dancing in the street

Don't you know
They'll be dancing
Dancing in the street (repeat)

and then he slept with mick jagger

It was actually a case of passing out together. That's the official story anyway. Could they have slept together, certainly, but i believe the drug induced passing out just as much.

No, the song was recorded a long time after Jagger and Bowie were found in bed together. Technically, though both were naked, there is no way to prove they actually slept with each other.

For the record, I don't care.

I also really like this song.

It's kinda interesting you guys are more interested in what happened between Mick Jagger and David Bowie than the meaning of this song...

Anyway, considering it's a cover, it's a little redundant and pointless to post a meaning when you could go to the original and do it. But I'm too lazy to do that so I just say it's about getting everyone in the world to dance to the same beat, which has a bit of a "let's unite!" feel to it.

There has been so many covers of this song. I am not exaggerating. It's about the world and its love affair. Out of all the covers of this song, I believe that this is the best one.

Hee hee i love the opening to this song... Screaming it all at the top of my lungs. Great fun

For the record, this is a Martha and the Vandellas song, which Bowie covered with Mick Jagger. I personally like the cover better.

Of course we're interested in whether they slept together or not. Musicians' lives do have an influence on their music, believe it or not. It may have influenced the collaboration. I think the song's all right, but there are a lot of songs by both of them that I like better. But it's good if it does get people dancing.

This is great but nothing compared to the Mamas and the Papas version...
