I definitely agree with most of these posts. This song is about an abusive relationship and the vicious cycle it always takes. I would also like to add that in the chorus it's the woman trying to justify the abuse bcuz she loves her partner. "Just gonna stand there and watch me burn." JUSTIFICATION "but that's alright bcuz i like the way it hurts" she is also saying that she loves the way he lies bcuz he always promises nvr to hurt her again. both of them know it will happen again but love eachother to much to just walk away and end the cycle. In the end you can hear the man's dark side come out. he is sick of her trying to leave, he knows what he is capable of and is rdy to kill her if she tries to leave. So many ppl go thro this situation evry day. eminem and rihanna nailed evry sing emotion and part of the cycle. It is amazing bcuz they have both gone thro it... |

I'd like to start by saying I LOVE and LIVE this song. It is definitely about a guy. You think he likes you one second, and then suddenly he drops you like a hot potato when his friends come around. It is about basically being fed up with the mixed messages and knowing if you could just get him alone for a few seconds you might be able to change his mind. She is basically saying fuck your mixed messages, if you wanna play a game, well i can play just as hard as you. AND THEN when she finally gets him alone she realizes she has nothing to talk about (or "sing" about). Well, my meaning is just one of many. oh and koishiiyume what the hell r u smoking buddy boy? I think this song is about being broken and wanting that innocence you once had to help you thro it. Hayley is asking for her innocence back. I don't care whether she is asking God, the person who stole it from her, or freaking Elmo. She thinks restoring the innocence to youth will help us with all our issues with "being broken". I heard this song the day after the love of my life broke up w/ me. I was hanging out with my friends, they had taken me to a club and it came on. I cried right in the middle of the dance floor. I have loved this song ever since. Every time I hear it i tear up.
