| Morrissey – All You Need Is Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I really think morrissey has such ambiguous lyrics that it could be all ofy your opinions. Who knows what was going through his head when he wrote it. My personal belief is that he is singing to both the NME and someone he just got out of a relationship with. |

| Placebo – Kitty Litter Lyrics | 16 years ago |

it could also be about him having a one night stand with a boy. you cant forget that he is bi and he never mentioned a specific gender in this song. bu chances are he is singing abot a girl. that would be nice. =] |

| Placebo – Julien Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
this song remindes me of myself. It's almost like he is saying to julien, don't confide in me, but i dont know why he wouldn't let his friend tell him what's going on. Unless Molko is taking on the persona of a dead man? and he found out too late that he could not get into heaven because everyone is barred. and julien wants to end the pain he feels so he takes a few hits, but the drugs don't help. and we all know that drug can be a slow killer, so maybe he is saying "you're a slow motion suicide" because he knows that the drugs are killng him, or he is gonna lose his mind and kill himself another way. But placebo has been known to be ambiguous and have multipule meaning to their songs. |

| Placebo – For What It's Worth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think Cement nailed it. that is how i feel about the song. | |
| Placebo – Black-Eyed Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i think of a failed relationship. and the singer knows that he is the reasons why it failed. they lyircs pretty much explain themselves. he feels like he was never one to trust for some reason and his lover must not have known this, untill to late. the singer is reflecting on himself but he isn't showing any signs of wanting to change. it's more like the he is just singing about everything he knows is wrong with him. about the bisexual thing... since Molko is bi, it could be about a boy or a girl. we don't know because he doesn't give us any direct clues as to what gender the person was. the verse "forever bitting on your nuts" is kind giving me the impression that Molko is singing to a guy who he knows he can't be with becuase he is unfaithful, untrustworthy, black-eyed (because he wears black eye makeup and it is probably crying ot because he doesnt get enough sleep due to the failed relationship or whatever), and a product of a broken home (which means he doesnt know how to be a realtionship, because he fears following in the same path his divorced parents took) that is my opinion. |

| Placebo – Bigmouth Strikes Again (The Smiths cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| the smiths totally own this song. placebo did a good job, but it is not better. | |
| Placebo – Battle For The Sun Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think of two boys who were good friends, then for some reason they have a falling out. and this is his way of dealing with the loss. | |
| Placebo – 20th Century Boy (T-Rex cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| great marc bolan cover! | |
| David Bowie – Station to Station Lyrics | 16 years ago |

"it's not the side-effects of the cocaine." oh yes it is =] |
|
| David Bowie – Rebel Rebel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i alwayst think of a really cool party when i hear this song. like bowie went to some cross-dressing party and met a girl or guy who is into everything that he is into and they decided to dance and enjoy themselves. |
|
| David Bowie – Moonage Daydream Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| lol i think this song is good regardless of it being about gay sex or not. the live vesion is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better. the guitar solo by mick is epic. | |
| David Bowie – Let's Spend the Night Together (The Rolling Stones cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
in the live version on ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars: the motion picutre soundtrack, right before this song comes on he says "this is for mick". you have to wait untill the end of the width of a circle (the song right before let's spend the night together) to hear it but its pretty interesting. i dont know if he ment mick ronson or mick jagger? |
|
| David Bowie – Lady Stardust Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i wonder if marc bolan wrote a song for david bowie? | |
| David Bowie – John, I'm Only Dancing Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i love the last part of this song: "Dancing, won't someone dance with me? Touch me! Ohhh!" hahaha it makes me laugh to read it, but in the song it fits. |
|
| David Bowie – John, I'm Only Dancing Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| nice one fizr! | |
| David Bowie – It's No Game (Part 1) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i have no idea what the woman is singing, but the part that bowie sings really gets to me. The whole album scary monsters (and super creeps) is great. And having It's No Game open and close was really cool. I loved the way he made his voice in part 1 sound distorted and painful and gave the lyircs a sense of disgust with the world, while in part 2 he sounded relaxed and almost too comfortable for his lyrics, like he didnt really care about what he was saying anymore. the contrast between the two different ways he sings It's No Game is neat. Part 1 kind of scares me though. | |
| David Bowie – Fame Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
why can't people just write about the song and not his life? if you wan't to know about his sexuality then go to wikipedia haha. this song is amazing. it was the first david bowie song i ever heard. |
|
| David Bowie – Golden Years Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| my dad really likes this song =] | |
| David Bowie – God Knows I'm Good Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i thought it wasnet how in the beggining of the song the lady says "god may look the other way" then when she is caught and faints she says "surely god won't look the other way". it is so true about how human nature makes us call out to god when we are in trouble, but when we feel justified in what we do, we hope god doesnt notice or care. |
|
| David Bowie – Five Years Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think people spend too much time discussing the ONE VERSE where bowie mentions "and a queer threw up at the sight of that." this song just shows us how people were reacting to the news about how the earth has five years to live. think about how you would be. hysterical like the girl who "hit some tiny children", or calm like the "soldier with a broken arm who fixed his stare to the wheels of a cadillac" ? think about it. for bowie to add the "cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest and a queer threw up at the sight of that" verse is only his way of showing us how thy reacted to the news. some turn to god, some turn away from god. it makes sense to me, but it isnt saying that jesus hates anyone for their sexuality. |
|
| David Bowie – Fashion Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Well this song wasn't as important as Ashes to Ashes was with the new romantic scene. It is just the fact that bowie did it first, thats all. And it might have to do with the synth.. he used it in the album Low in 1976. Kraftwerk and bowie were two of the main pioneers of the sound. but the new romantic thing wasnt somethinf that bowie participated in, he just influenced alot of bands to create the same style of music and next thing you know, there is new romantic music.. and new romantc fashion lol. maybe thats why he titled it fashion, to mock the new romantic fashion. we already know that he mocked artists like gary numan who copied his "new wave sound" in his song teenage wildlife: A broken-nosed mogul are you One of the new wave boys Same old thing in brand new drag Comes sweeping into view As ugly as a teenage millionaire Pretending it’s a whiz-kid world hope i helped. =] |
|
| David Bowie – Fashion Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| lol i agree. the music video was laughable. | |
| David Bowie – Diamond Dogs Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| oh that's interesting. putting the two together, you get a whole different meaning... | |
| David Bowie – Cracked Actor Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| at first, i got the impression that he was singing to someone he wanted to have sex with. but he/she doesn't want to. and the "forget that i'm fifty" verse confused me because i knew he wasn't that old. So then i began to think about it, and i have come to the conclusion that he was mocking men who just want sex and will seduce anyone to get it. | |
| David Bowie – Boys Keep Swinging Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
oh yeah, i didnt get to say what i originally came here to say. one of my friends, a girl, said that this song is feminist because bowie is trying to say that boys are better then girls. idk? i was hoping someone could clarify that for me. I know david bowie had some interest in nazism once, due to his cocaine use, but i dont think he was into that when he wrote this song. |
|
| David Bowie – Boys Keep Swinging Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
To teakettle - it probably was a nod to bisexalism or simply being curious. Since he immediatly says after "other boys can check you out. you get a girl." It's a pretty cool way of admitting we all notice when someone is attractive, regardless of gender. Read the book Bowie In Berlin. It explains this song, among others. |
|
| David Bowie – Ashes to Ashes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's sad that such a great song like this was used by my friends to show me what drugs would have done to me if i stayed on them.. now i am a huge bowie fan. I admire his strength to overcome his addictions. and i think this song was his public way of warning others about the dangers of drugs. it is also his way of saying goodbye to the 70's. | |
| David Bowie – Afraid Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
ithink he is reflecting on his past. which can be good or bad. and i think he fears the future. i am only 18, so this song doesn't affect me, yet. |
|
| David Bowie – Across the Universe (The Beatles cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I dont think horrible is the right word. I think david bowie did an okay job with it. Of course, when you are on cocaine, that affects your singing ablity. I mean, station to station was an exception, but this cover is simply a COVER. so it isn't like david bowie trying to sound like the beatles when he covered it. I think he did a fine job. | |
| David Bowie – Heroes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I've never thought of this song as the happy anthem to lovers. I've always been moved by the some what hopeful lyrics, but the way david bowie sings this song is unchallenged. No one can give it the emoion h gave it. Even when he sung it live on his relaty tour, it was amazing. I see this as a desperate last call for his lover and him to just face the world and themselves and be heroes. But by the end of the song he knows deep in his heart that it wouldnt work out. "We're nothing, and nothing will help us. Maybe we're lying, then you better not stay. But we could be safer, just for one day" |
|
| AFI – ...But Home Is Nowhere Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i agree with you about how he shares his thoughts and revalations with us, but he also knows that we won't understand the full meaning of his songs. And the lyrics are a part of who he is, and he wants to connect with us. I think that might be one of the reasons he continues to create wonderful, thoughtful, emotional, and revealing music. because we as fans can relate somewhat. |
|
| AFI – ...But Home Is Nowhere Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is the song I listen to when i feel alone and useless. "Absent of grace, marked as infernal Ungranted in dead time left me disowned To this nature, so unnatural I remain alone" That chorus perfectly expresses how someone feels when they dont think they have any hope, and they will remain alone. You know that when he wrote these lyrics, he must have been going through depression, fear of death, feeling useless, unwanted by god, unneeded to humanity, desperate to change but can't. Therefore he remains alone. "I lay strewn across the floor, can't solve this puzzle Everyday another small piece can't be found I lay strewn across the floor, pieced up in sorrow The pieces are lost, these pieces don't fit Pieced together incomplete and empty" Then when davey breaks down right here, i picture a man who is screaming out for mercy while laying o the floor, in despair and anger over his empty and confused life. "pieced up in sorrow, these pieces are ost, these pieces dont fit" to me means that sorrow is the only thing that he is put together with, like sorrow is his nature. but he trys to find some way out of the sorrow, but he can't because other peices wont fit. and thoseother peices that dont fit are the ones he wants to fit. so he feels incomplte and empty. due to the lack of any other emotion besids sorrow. and that is why the album is titled sing the sorrows. he has went through the whole album trying to find a way outof his sorrows.. but hecan't. so this song is his way of realizing maybe he is meant to feel the way he feels... I love how davey screams this because it is something i would scream if i wrote it. |

| The Adicts – Viva La Revolution Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
oh shit, i read that book. i also read 1984, which in my opnion was much better then animal farm. but when i heard this song, my first impression, was "oh, another punk song abot being rebelious and breaking free from whatever it is they think is surpressing them." now that i've read the lyrics, and seen your comment, i really can see where you're coming from. even though they have become free and have the licence to kill and they are drinking from the rich man's cask, it seems they have become what they hated. which is just like in animal farm with the pigs at the end of the book. and some new revolution will happen because it is a never ending cycle. am i right? =] |

| Adam Ant – Zerox Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| "get your ears to the ground, however else can the hits be found" saying that underground music is always better then the pop music. then adam ant became popular haha. | |
| Adam Ant – Friend Or Foe Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this song, just like his song press darlings, are his way of dealing with fame, rumors, backstabbers, all of that. | |
| Adam Ant – Beat My Guest Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think he is mocking the fag-haters | |
| Adam Ant – Antmusic Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| he is saying that his "antmusic" is (or was, since we are talking about an 80's song) better then the other music out there, on the radio. and that they should listen to his music. its a great way of self-promoting your music, without actually selling out. plus the song is fun to dance to. =] | |
