Ah... 5 years ago raged an epic struggle between some slipknot maggot, and some guy trying too hard to prove some point about some bullshit. Lets just say I think PM5K is decent, and Slipknot is bullshit.
And please, for the record, if you want to say a band is 'just pure pop', please dont pick the band which is the current definition of pop-metal. Every little 11 year old+ prick that thinks they're hardcore in any way, unless raised on hair metal, or otherwise... I guess it would be better to say 'with exceptions' will say they like Slipknot. I can relate to this song a lot, especially lately. Nothing really seems right, and no one is who they were, when they were relevant.
Everyone seems to be shallower than they were, or something. I'm not even so sure in my self any more. I'd like to think that I'm important somehow, or that I am something different, as dictated by some degree of solipsism that I have, but then again, this everything is like the "You're mileage will vary" trope thing. I guess it's a perspective thing. A part of me says that my perspective is the only one, and another says that there is such thing as other individuals, and that the other is used by so many others in a shallow sense of self importance. But then again, I will never know wether or not everyone else is real orv if I'm the only one....
Sometimes I wish I was like everyone else so I can actually not care about anything, instead of just saying I dont...

Well anyway.
I dont really care for this album a lot, other than a few tracks. Despite all the hate for this song, I love it. I dont really care about the lyrics, or the sound. This song is just amazing for the reason that is was one of my first NIN songs. I listened to it a lot when I was in ukraine this summer, and that was an amazing part of my life. If I close my eyes, I can still see the apartment I lived in, with the sun shining through in the 2 PM sun. I can see some fireworks display which we semi missed. I can see everything that was there, in all of its glory, and all the fun I had there. The only other song that still holds that nostalgic value is The Fragile, but that's more in the summer, when I stayed up all night, but song seems to have lost its touch a little...
The whole album was semi-decent, but a lot of filler. This song was a bit too blatantly told to be about the Bush administration, so there isn't too much to interpret, sadly. |

If taken at face value, the whole album describes me a lot. a bit sad, almost. I'm not a big fan of it, but it has some good tracks. Trent's vocals on this and some others, I kinda dont like. They just dont go to well for him. The little word play things, Flip Flop, With-uh-Teeth-uh, and god knows what I missed make it sound a little bit stupid. The mellower songs of this album are great, the faster ones, like this, not as much. They're okay, but could have been better. At face value, right now, currently, it describes me a lot. Some things in life just tend to break your soul after you try so hard to remain yourself. |

Says the one named 'mcr lover469'. It's poppy. It's emo. It's a hell of a lot less mature. Portrait of an American Family was a criticism of everything, and shock rock. A fuck you to everyone that hated the band for their 'demonic' style. It was meaningful. ACSS was inspired by philosophy, as was MA, and Holy Wood. All told a story too. Not only that, but it even sounded meaningful. Every little song, Irresponsible Hate Anthem, to Cryptorchid, to 1996, to Minute of decay, to Great big white world, and Disassociative, to everything else had been on the three. GAoG more music, and less meaning, though still interesting.
This is about his little relationship with Evan Rachel Wood. He wrote love songs before, but he worded them in a way that was actually 'deep'. This is just some description.
It's like seeing a 2 movies. One is full of metaphor and subtlety, with a degree of genius to it, as well as a different plot-line and setting. This is like a teenage movie with emo kids or something for characters, as well as some pseudo-subtely to try to make it look smart, despite the fact that anyone with a little background knowledge would get it.

I cant really agree with the fact that Adam turns into Omega... They are very opposite... Adam is a non-conformist, who tries to save Holy Wood, tries to have a revolution, but it is turned into something for everyone else to conform with. Omega is an alien, who's story is like Ziggy Stardust. An alien who fell to earth, and is turned into a celebrity. He is shallow, narcissistic, shallow, and drugged up. Not much like Adam.
I could see Omega in ACSS, but I think it more like how The Worm took him over, and that's what Cryptorchid is about.He doesn't become the Antichrist, nor does he birth him, more like, the Antichrist is a symbol. I feel he destroys everything with his power as a celebrity, not as the literal antichrist...

Okay, for those of you who are fucking up, the chronology goes Holy Wood, with Adam, and the whole story I dont know because I haven't heard the whole album, Then Mechanical Animals, with Omega, and to a much much much lesser extent Alpha, and then finally Antichrist Superstar, which ends it all. I believe that this angel with the scabbed wings is actually Omega, as described a shallow, druggie, sexed up rockstar, much like what is here... And it even makes sense a little, He fell to earth, an alien, and an angel with scabbed wings could relate....

To be honest, this song is a little difficult to determine, in the course of of ACS. It uses the colors white, a slightly blue-ish white, which I fell can be either numbness or cold, or innocence, and Black, and almost gray, Black being darkness, and gray is more ambiguous. The song is a little strange by the way it sounds anyway... I just cant place it...
