This is such an amazing song! I dont quite understand it. I just really love the melody and the music. If I had to make an opinion on what this song means well... I guess from what i get from it, is when rob was in his school days, he might have been a unpopular kid, or just hormoning, and was a shut in who was depressed. thats just what i get from it. Now if he was unhappy and tried to hurt himself i dont know. Its a weird song. Anyway Rob is the coolest guy. He is truly my kinda musician. | If you like this album you should hear My room is a Mess! NOw that is a great albumn. I also like Lactose Adept. It just a bunch of like 10 second songs with a few couple minute tunes. He is very talented. Hes been doing this stuff for like 20 years! LIsten to Thingy, or Optigonally Yours, Heavy Vegetable. These bands were around in the 90's and unless you were into more underground DIY music you wouldnt know it. | I think you are right, but its not about kurt its about Courtney. this may not be the main issue, but after kurt died, Courtney took control of his music. The music that Kurt Cobain wrote, and played with Dave and Chris. She made a big fuss about nirvanas music when in fact the ones who had the most rights were dave and chris at that time. Kurt may have loved her and thats fine, but after he died, i mean she really used his death as like a feeding frenzy for her career. | what people dont get is that, kurt cobains lyrics are the last thing to fully come together. This song was written long before it was recorded. He played it a couple times and then when recording at home time came around he was piecing words together. then studio day came around he probably was in a lousy ass mood (considering the timeline) and focused his lyrics on something about a fight or a popular mood he was in constantly...sarcasm. He recorded his parts, probably laid them down once or twice at most. and that was that. so the "i have never failed to fail" probably is just an inacurate lyric that just fit. It sounds like hes trying to say " i have never felt or felt pain" but had to slip that extra line in to make it fit. Any musician who writes lyrics or riffs knows about stuff like that. in fact it can really drive you crazy, cuz nobody prounounces words like "a-gain", or "cal-i-for-nye-a".they do that to make it fit into a song. Do you understand what im getting at? this might sound dumb, but this song reminds me of a person witnessing several drug overdoses in his life. there was a sound that split all the heavens apart on the northern wind out in a southern spark oh, I will be with you running from the rain, when it reaches the end of the line. guys and gals, i must say this song doesnt seem that hard to interpret. Its about a couple who work at a sunday swap meet, they are trying hard to survive, by selling crafts that the girl most likely made and the guy is selling. They have a tough life and they depend on each other and they show their love for one another in their own ways. the keeps his cigarettes close to his heart, to me, just means he keeps them in his front pocket, and keeps her photographs close to her hear , to me, just means its a picture of them in a locket around her neck which dangles infront of her heart. keeps the bitterness close to their heart, means they are upset that they are poor and have to struggle and maybe its because of their love for one another that keeps them like that. Its probably one of my most favorite songs, cuz the story is so realistic and detailed, its like when i go to the swap shop in sunrise florida, and i see the couples doing that, usually selling tons of perfume or insense or shitty kids toys i always think of this song. this is probably one of his best. also someone said its possibly about kurt and tracys love, i can see that easily! If the guys never really had a falling out then they should do a huge reunion show, it should be directed by Tim Kinsella, and he should get the members from all his projects to come out and do like a 3 day show.
