THe lyrics are straight forward. It's about pollution and how people have to help save the planet or it will turn to shit before we even know. The earth is also ready in a disastrous state and is only going to get worse.
I Love This Song But It Seems A Weird Way To End The Greendale Album. I'm Left Wanting To Hear More About The Whole Green Family Earl Green's Paintings The Devil Jed Green Etc. I Got Kind Of Tired Of Sun Green By The End Of Her Song (Right Before This) But Either Way, As A Stand-Alone Song, This Is Still Classic Neil Young Magic.
I just heard the Greendale album and for this song Sun Green is trying to save the Alaskan wilderness as well as raise Global Awareness towards other environmental issues.
The reference to the three-eyed fish in unlikely a reference to The Simpsons. It's probably about the fish becoming deformed due to radiatiion and chemicals being dumped in rivers.
THe fish with 3 eyes from the simpsons is in a lake where toxic waste gets dumped into it. Its a perfect reference for that. THe only thing, is in the show the fish is cute cuz its a cartoon, but in real life if you saw it, im sure we'd barf, and ithink they try and eat it to in that episode and mr. burns the owner of the nuclear power plant spits it out cuz its disgusting
