I don't know if it's been said. But everytime I listen to this song, I can't help but hear it as a song about a gay relationship. (There's a better way to put it, but I can't think of it right now) I mostly hear it in the second verse (Whatever it's called). Every word. "Why can't they understand the way we feel? They just don't trust what they can't explain. I know we're different. But deep inside us, we're not that different at all." Then, "They'll see in time. I know" I'm not saying that this is what it is meant to be. It's a nice song about a love between a gorilla and a human, as well. But I like to/can't help but listen to it as song about two gay people breaking bounderies for love. |

I just read this book, I don't want to say the title, because then this would just be one big spoiler alert: But in the book, this girl dies, and the main character is really upset about it, because he loved her. There's a line in the book about how he was driving, and he was the road glittering with broken glass (And here I thought, That's like the song Left And Leaving) So when I finished the book, I listened to this song, to see if it was anymore like the book. It's not entirely similar, but it's similar enough to make me relate this song to the book. "This drink in my hand. The strangers whose faces I know" - She introduced him to drinking. And when she left, there were moments when him and his friends would get drunk and remember her. And everyone in the school, he knows, but he doesn't "know" them. "To say 'I wanted it this way" -In the book another character says something how This is his life, he may not like it, but he chose it. "Spring forward, fall back down. I'm trying not to wonder where you are" - The main character, in the spring, tells about where everyone is going for summer vacation, but the girl who died- "I don't know where she is, or where she's going. But I don't want to know" So, I relate this song to a story about a boy who falls in love with a girl. She dies, and he has to live with it, but can't, but time moves on, and he moves on. The song has a deathly feel to it. And I like imagining it as part of the soundtrack to this book. I want to tell the title of the book, It would make this comment more meaningful, but I hate giving away stories. |
