i love this song because if you look at justins wikipedia page, it says he's struggled with addictive patterns his whole life. when you read the entire wikipedia page about him and then read the lyrics to a couple songs, it kinda makes your interpretation of the song change or deepen a little. "For the first time in a long time I can say that I want to try to get better and overcome each moment in my own way" = hes sober. dealing with everyday issues and moments and struggles without being under the influence of any sort of drug. "I feel helpless for the most part, but I'm learning to open my eyes and the sad truth of the matter is I'll never get over it, But I'm gonna try To get better and overcome each moment In my own way... I so want to get back on track And I'll do whatever it takes Even if it kills me " = no matter what, just like having an eating disorder or whatever, you never get rid of the disease. no matter what, it's there. you can relapse anytime, but he's choosing not to. he has the disease- the disease does not have HIM. anyway, thats the way i see it. i love it anyhow it's interpreted. |
