Lynn Anderson – Rose Garden Lyrics | 7 years ago |
@[hateme:16595]. Not talking about it ending. Just that, like in real life, there are bumps in the road. Even a rose garden needs some rain sometimes... Still waters run deep, words are wind, and sweet talking is bullshit. |
Don McLean – American Pie Lyrics | 7 years ago |
@[Quiltlynx:16196] helter skelter is what the Manson family painted on the wall at the murder scene. And they didn't just think that song was talking about race war, but the WHOLE white album was (piggies, blackbird, happiness is a warm gun, etc) |
Genesis – That's All Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Anyone who has ever been in a bitter, hate filled relationship, can understand this song |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Zero Lyrics | 7 years ago |
@[Spoonman:14976] If ever see the behind the scenes of the recording of this song, will completely agree. They were obviously on coke and heroin (candy and ronnie as benny and jets would say) |
Loggins and Messina – Danny's Song Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Pretty straight forward.. basically its a song you sing at the beginning of a relationship, before the bitterness of your lack of self eats you up and you divorce. |
Berlin – Take My Breath Away Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Is it weird to have this song remind me of Art Bell ? |
Pearl Jam – Alive Lyrics | 7 years ago |
@[suckmykiss:14805] Just guessing, but I'd say its because its his mother's and all up in his grill |
Fuel – Hemorrhage (In My Hands) Lyrics | 7 years ago |
@[mandyjohnson31:13255] I highly doubt the song is about that. Remember back then, videos were cranked out fast from suit type people. They don't care what song about, has 'hemorrhage ' in title, its about someone bleeding out. And besides what does "leave love bleeding in my hand AGAIN" mean? Again?? How many women has this guy been with that have died? |
Fuel – Shimmer Lyrics | 7 years ago |
@[trieyeopen:13254] THis is awesome. I do the same things with songs. I'm usually very wrong most times. Its easy to look at it after its written, but are these guys really THAT clever to come up with that? That's like Chuckles Manson saying the Beatles White Album was about him. |
Iron Maiden – Charlotte The Harlot Lyrics | 7 years ago |
@[slipper:13247] That is like saying Nightmare on Elm Street is talking about Elm Street in a town called Springfield. Acacia Avenue is generic as crap. And you know 22 was used only because it rhymes. But if look at 22 acacia ave on google street view, it does look whoreish |
Ronnie Milsap – Smoky Mountain Rain Lyrics | 7 years ago |
@[battaryacid:13060] I know, right. One guy 2/3 across country, other guy 50 miles |
Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence Lyrics | 8 years ago |
Yeah, I've thought the sound of silence was the inner-monologue of our brain. WE talk without listening, talk without speaking, etc. Everyone caught up in their own life, don't give a crap about anyone else and keep their thoughts to themselves.. "When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light. That split the night. And touched the sound of silence" it made him think. The words of the prophets on the subway wall, is just saying people not not afraid to share their opinions are the prophets. |
Osborne Brothers – Rocky Top Lyrics | 8 years ago |
@[xhailof_bullets:9646] Or the 'strangers' climbed Rocky Top, got drunk and decided to move there |
Megadeth – My Last Words Lyrics | 8 years ago |
@[dagabeus:8853] No, it is not about heroin. It is exactly what it says its about. Russian roulette, except they are adding bullets. was 1 in 6, then 1 in 3 then 1 in 2 chances. Other guy last at 50% mark, mustaine so drunk he asked someone else to play. And called them pussies if they don't |
Chris Cornell – Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart Lyrics | 8 years ago |
This song is more complex than seems. If listen to whole CD, it is a concept album. All songs are about him getting back with this woman, thinking about killing himself (trying to find a reason to go on). |
Chris Cornell – Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart Lyrics | 8 years ago |

Chris Cornell – Almost Forgot My Broken Heart Lyrics | 8 years ago |
I think its about remembering how tough it is to give your heart to someone, then ultimately break up. Then when you meet someone else, you are a little bitter and more careful about falling in love. OR he is getting back with the same woman that broke his heart the first time around. |
Within Temptation – Ice Queen Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[tigereyes8809:4064] same. Not sure what song really about, but to me its about Jadis in Narnia. The ultimate Ice Queen |
Rush – Vital Signs Lyrics | 9 years ago |
To me,when this came out, I was in an electronics program at a vocational school, all the phrases like deviate from the norm, reverse polarity, atmospheric disturbance, soft filter, etc all were terms from broadcast radio theory. Heck, we thought this song WAS about electronics. We played it all the time on the school local radio station. |
Theatre of Tragedy – Samantha Lyrics | 9 years ago |
my attempt at translating, my middle english is rusty :) Cede the wherefores and do na chide, (don't worry about the little things) Maybe I am peenging - ween of joy; (should be wene not ween) (I'm probably complaining, should hope for happiness) Thrawn and slab of leer I holde thee, and yore was 'gal. (though my face doesn't show it and I act like a bitch, I have loved you for years) Not sure what the guy means I think its two thoughts in his head. Should he he leave her or should he stay. The grunting voice says riddance, the echoing voice says she's the one? |
Within Temptation – Restless Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Epic song, and a ballsy way to open a album, shouldn't have been first song on Enter, but still... incredible song. Anyway, I was always confused why half the song is third person and part in first person. Some is like "ghost haunting HER heart", then switches to "all of MY life.." Kind of think its two sides of the story for a breakup. |
Lacuna Coil – Hyperfast Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Yeah I always thought it was about a relationship. The religion angle always got me though. I think the "words of the big religion " is wrong in the lyrics though. I think its "try to break this relationship is what I need". More clean second time she sings it. Fits in better with the 'lack of experience', |
Augustana – Boston Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I don't think its literally about someone wanting to move to Boston but more of a metaphor for change. The opposite of California. Seeing the sun rise instead of set. Some snow would be cool, etc. Then again, I guess the opposite of california would be Turkistan, Ukraine or something like that. |
R.E.M. – Drive Lyrics | 9 years ago |
smack..crack.. is obviously a speedball. could argue shake-a-lack means shake the syringe. and tie another to the rack, is a metaphor for committing torture on yourself for doing it |
R.E.M. – Drive Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I'm not sure what the intention of this song was, but do know that when it came out I was into crack cocaine pretty heavy, and to me this whole song was talking about. Hell I even stole the tape so could listen to it more. I credit this song (right or wrong) for making me realize what an idiot I was. If really read into it, can see where I'm coming from. Rock Around the Clock isn't just a happy days theme, its about a 3 day crack binge. Shake a leg, is the withdraw, What if you rock around the clock Tick-tock, tick-tock. What if you did? What if you walk What if you tried to get off, baby Means, what if you do survive the binge, only a matter of time before it kills you. Smack, crack. Shack-a-lack Tie another one to your back is about coke and heroin speedballing and tying another monkey to your back. I dunno, but quit crack cold turkey soon after that, So intentional or not, I gotta hand it to him, he saved my life. Sorry I stole your cassette. |
Transplants – Diamonds and Guns Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Its pretty obvious what the song is about. crime, drugs, exploitation. I do think the part about smoking the heroin is about cooking it too long in the spoon when converting it. Its cool to watch it bubble when all zoned out, but longer you watch the more you waste. At least that how crack is. . OR it was originally "shot it all up" but some record exec made them change it. he kinda says "Shhhhmoked it all up" Not sure what 84 I'm crazy horse. Maybe old dude was strung out in 1984? |
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Hendrix may have said it was about 1833 and england abolishing slavery, and maybe he believed that, BUT he may be like us and have interrupted it wrong. But that's what it meant to him. Hell, reading through this one message board there are dozens of theories, and we are only on mild amounts of drugs (lol). Imagine the amount Hendrix was on. |
10 Years – Wasteland Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Not sure what its about, but when I was going through opiate withdrawl, I must have listened to it a 100 times. Fit so perfect. Heard it on radio the other day and still got the "taste". |
Deep Purple – Knocking At Your Back Door Lyrics | 11 years ago |
When he repeats the first verse at the end of the song, he says "one of us could reach her" and then "I can't deny with that smile on MY face". |
Buckcherry – Lit Up Lyrics | 11 years ago |
in this song, Cocaine is obviously a metaphor for heroin. |
Iron Maiden – Ghost Of The Navigator Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think its about how we all are navigators in our own lives. Sirens of the rocks is not about the Odysee, just a metaphor about the how the lure of easy life, vices, etc catch us. the ghost of the navigator is the old guys bitching about young guys are screwing up. Skeletons point accusing from the sea. |
Pantera – Cemetery Gates Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Good call on 5 Peope You Meet in Heaven. Helped me with loss of my dad |
The Beatles – Polythene Pam Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think all 3 songs in the Sun King medley are about Lennon himself. Polythene Pam is his "woman" side. Dunno if gay, but all guys have a femenine side, ya know. |
Iron Maiden – Satellite 15...The Final Frontier Lyrics | 12 years ago |
You are absolutely right. The first part, Satellite 15, IS about what we refer to as the final frontier. I guess its the ship the guy was on. But the song Final Frontier is about the REAL final frontier.. Death. Would be more spacey stuff if was about space travel and stuff, instead the whole song is about dying, reflecting on his life, the possibility of reincarnation, etc |
Firewind – Pictured Life Lyrics | 12 years ago |
About communism. somehow :) |
Judas Priest – Victim Of Changes Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The version on Unleashed in the East has got to be about the best from Priest. Hell, the whole album pretty much invented thrash metal |
Iron Maiden – 2 Minutes To Midnight Lyrics | 12 years ago |
SO what does The napalm screams of human flames Of a prime time Belsen feast...YEAH! have to do with cold war? Belsen was WW2 consentration camp, napalm screams is definatly vietnam. The doomsday clock is a metaphor about how we are going to destroy ourselves via war, not nessesarily a duck and cover nuclear holocaust. Remember england was hit much harder in WW2 and to them it was a huge deal, and basically a holocaust. |
Iron Maiden – 2 Minutes To Midnight Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think it's more about war in general and politics of war. The napalm is referencing vietnam Belsen feast references WW2 (Belsen was a concentration camp) And I don't think anything is talking about Saddam and WMD, considering this song came out in late 80's, Saddam was still our friend and any WMD he had, he got from us and we didn't care :) |
Judas Priest – Jawbreaker Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Glen Tipton wrote the lyrics. Its not about gay oral sex or oral sex at all. Jawbreaker is referring to grinding your teeth at the pressures of life, exploding then shotting up a mall or something crazy. |
Judas Priest – The Sentinel Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yeah get a Book of Eli/Road Warrior post-apocolyptic vibe. Thank God priests kicked the blues out of metal with kick ass songs like this. |
Neil Young – Like A Hurricane Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Reminds me of a girl I used to love years and years ago :) |
Depeche Mode – Wrong Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Am I the only who finds it ironic and some what fitting that the lyrics to the song are wrong? The wrong lies on the wrong vibes should be wrong eyes on the wrong prize talking about the afterlife and all that stuff |
Therion – The Rise Of Sodom And Gomorrah Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Probably because Therion lyrics are too hardcore to try and decipher |
America – Sister Golden Hair Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I just can't see the nun thing. I think by sister golden hair he means loves her like a sister. Not sure what the Surprise is, maybe she's a dude? lol |
