hello! Lolita totally changed my view of love too. I dont really think this song has anything to do with pedophilia, but i do get your point. It is an interesting perception. Youre the fist person i know that agrees with me in the belief that Lolita is the most believable and beautiful love story ever. I dont see it as perverted at all. I dont feel grossed out by it. I like to think it's perfectly normal and even tender. Songs by the cure that i had actually related to Lolita before, are "High" and "Lovesong". It may not make much sense, but i like to view it this way. :) |

oh i love this song. the cure has 2 main auras: - the dark and existencialist and - the dreamy lollipop and they can perform both vibes beautifully. this song reminds me of in between days, and lovecats, and just like heaven, the caterpillar... those kinds of songs you can dance and sing and cry to. it IS ver the cure-ish that's the versatility of the cure. |

what the hell with the music!! and the harpsichord!? it's just weird. it seems to me like this song could be a really good soundtrack for the lion king or something. the last minute of the song seems to me too uncommonly repetitive and monotonous, i cant help skipping the song at that part. the lyrics to me, mean an affair (Exoneration lost his, eraser But my forgiver found the sun And there are twisted days that I take comfort Cause I'm not the only one No, I'm not the only one), the narrator is married but he has a "lover" and a kid, he thinks for a looong while and decides that he cant go with them, he has to do what's right and goes back home. its just my thoughts tho. |

this song is making me cry... it is really so heartfelt. at first thought i believed it was criticism about society, like seeing our heroes tired (cinderella, looking for a nightgown) and hoping times get better but still being afraid. i thiught it could be about the amount of kidnappings, murders and wars that take place right under our noses with so much frequence... i thought it talked about not giving up, about going to or finding a place where things will be better than here, where the bells will ring, and wind wont blow... "here the good girls die" that part is beautiful. to me, it represents the atrocities that happen to women: the raping, the killing, the abuses... and it's exposed in a way that shows how inhumane the world is. i do believe it could be a criticism to the impunity with which things happen, crimes, disease... whatever it may be... comparing the times around the 60's when the world want so abnoxious. --> (And the decades disappear like sinking ships But we persevere, God gives us hope But we still fear what we don't know The mind is poison Castles in the sky sit stranded, vandalized Drawbridges closing) still it makes a nice interpretation applied to his parents and his mother's cancer. this album has many references to that. it must be hard. i love the piano in "here the bell dont ring" its tragic |

first of all, the music is brilliant! not very coldplay-ish, but VERY viva la vida or death and all his friends. this is something i like cuz the whole album is pretty homogeneous. viva la vida, obviously has historical references. even the album artwork is pretty historical. i believe the song is a huge methaphore, based on the knowledge that history is a repetitive cycle. we can guess that he's talking about past, present and future, but not necessarily about monarchies. it may be about politics perhaps, but mainly, it is about power. the power you have among your friends, the envy that leadership provokes. or even the "imaginary" power, like the emotion you feel when you're in love, as if you actually "ruled the world". but then you trip and fall. and you're shit. this song can relate to so many things, even to all of us, and especially to the cycle of life. who hasn't felt on top, and the minute later, felt the emptiness of realising what kind of world we're in? i find this song to be pretty machiavellic, or at least, very humane. but it is sure that machiavelli would have liked it. "Never An Honest Word But That Was When I Ruled The World". i only want to listen to this song until im sick of it. which is not very likely to happen, not soon anyways. |

When i first heard it i was in shock, it is too "disco" for me, but at the same time it's very different from what Keane usually do. After listening to it a couple of times if becomes incredibly catchy and fun. I'm gonna have to say that I'm a little disappointed of this song cuz it's from Keane, but if it wasn't, then I'd say it's a great song. I just hope it's only a fling or something, and they're not becoming so commercial. |
