| Haste the Day – Travesty Lyrics

My favorite song on the new Haste the Day release. Certainly quite a change even from Dreamer. The clean vocals, while painfully different, are stilling stunningly beautiful.
This song is quite obviously a "Jesus song", talking about how Jesus covers the darkest parts of us. Even when we suck, and sin, he covers us with his blood and "sets the captives free", with "love that the blindest eyes will see." |

Well, Christians can't expect non-believers to see God in every song, just how non-believers can't expect Christians to keep God out of everything as they wish they would. Skillet is a Christian band, therefore, it is expected that a majority of their songs are about God, thus making them a Christian band. If you're interested in non-God Skillet songs, try "Should've When You Could've" or something like that. Also, lyrics are written to be taken however the reader wants to interpret them. If you want to fit God into everything then wonderful, and if you want to keep him out of everything, more power to you.
Oh and P.S., saying that Christians are ruining Skillet for you is completely ignorant, intolerant, and childish. That's like saying that non-Christians ruin non-Christian bands for me. It makes no sense. Christians who are "really into it" are what God commands Christians to be, and if you don't like it then tough. I'm not too fond of Atheists who are really into it and I have to deal with it every day. And, um, your opinion does not entitle you to tell anyone not to give theirs. You say that Comatose and Awake have nothing to do with God, fine, but no one has to shut up if they think it does. Try thinking before you post next time. Thanks. |

i think this is about him coming back to God...
"And I’ll stand through all these lines just to make it back to you."
I'm not sure but this line pretty much gives it away that its about God:
"I was the one that built that cross and weighed you down" |

I think this has to be Satanism. I can see where Islam comes in, but they don't really serve the lord of hate...that is definitely Satan. But I don't think it can be any other religion, unless they're talking about Mormons, which I highly, highly doubt. |

My grandpa died the day STGOH came out and I got a free download of this song that day and I broke down, and as I carried his casket I could not keep the song from my mind. |

This is a song about half-hearted Christianity. They talk about how the hearts don’t beat (for God) like before and they bathe in the river of half-hearted souls. Then they are ready to go to heaven, but are rejected because they were not actual Christians, but half Christians, lazy Christians. And God hates laziness. So these people were not allowed eternal life. |

I must admit this song is somewhat confusing. I think the panic would be the realization that people will go to hell if they don’t do something about it. Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing---can we say Bible verse? Not born just once---obviously he means being born again (a Christian.). The rest of this song, though, is rather confusing. |

This is about someone who is pretty much faking faith. She goes to church, tries to look good like she is so righteous, when, inside, her heart is not right. Then she hears the voice of Satan telling her it is ok, she can just fake it. This song, I believe, can be very important to people like “Ariel” to realize they need to stop faking and get real. |

This song is a prime example of a metaphor: taking to completely opposite things and comparing them.
The first line is true…we are going to die.
The difference can be inferred that “I” is a Christian and “You” is not.
What they mean by “peace” and “fight” is that “You” wants eternal life but doesn’t really want to get into church stuff.
By bathing in armor, they are getting into heaven, and if not, hell awaits (death).
Churches have nuns, cowboys got guns is an incredibly true statement that is very fun to say and has nothing pertaining to the song otherwise.
Everyone’s waiting to die—what are you going to do to ensure you have life after death? |

I know we decided to stop talking about the band origins, but wikipedia (yeah i know it can be rather uncredible at times) says that spencer chamberlain was a drug addict through high school and nearly killed himself on an overdose. a youth minister led him to christ and he has been so filled by god that he wants to be a part of the phenomenon that it underoath...it also says in the booklet where they say thanks: Jesus Christ for pulling me out by the collar and saving my life. |
