Chevelle – Fell Into Your Shoes Lyrics 16 years ago
funeraldancer just writes random stuff for each of Chevelle's new songs. It's pretty hilarious if you ask me, because I think funeraldancer knows people have a hard time interpreting Pete's lyrics, so he just posts really random thoughts on his songs and sees if people rolls with it... And you were punk'd manpile.
Either that, or funeraldancer is really trying to interpret the lyrics, and I feel really bad because the results are just terrible. =P

Chevelle – Letter from a Thief Lyrics 16 years ago
It's pretty obvious the song refers to the feelings and thought Pete had when their gear was stolen...
Pete has said many times over that a majority of his songs are personal and about experiences he has had or the band has shared.
When their equipment was stolen, no clues were left, the band was asleep at a hotel, and of course Pete was very upset. These ideas can be found in the song like "Faceless, so little there to judge," "Why lead if everybody sleeps, So few ways to, Cover up the old ruins," and "This sends us medicating Through it all" respectively.

I should also point out that the idea behind the having the CD titled "Sci-Fi Crimes" and the album artwork (which Dean, the bassist created) is all tongue-in-cheek, somewhat mocking the "believers."

Chevelle – Roswell's Spell Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm somewhat obsessed with Chevelle... And I'll give you the meaning of the song directly from an interview with Elliot in the Morning from just earlier this week.
Pete and Sam said when they were traveling through New Mexico they decided to stop at Roswell.
Pete said that he "wanted to believe" something had happened and that there are other races created outside of Earth... So he wanted some proof or something tangible to believe in.
However, upon arriving at Roswell, they were completely unsatisfied with any type of proof, and now believe that everything involved with Roswell is more about the people and not the actual event. That maybe it's characteristic of certain people to imagine abductions or encounters that are completely ludicrous.
Pete said that one woman claimed to have 3rd-degree burns on her arms from shielding her face from a spaceship taking off in her backyard or something silly.
As for some of the lines:
"Life, It’s always overblown, Till we wake up create some other needs" : people create fabrications to create excitement, or just something to distract them from day-to-day life.

"Heats source rained down, Dyad Scout craft, Hands reveal a meeting, but did they come?" : Explaining the woman with burns... Seeing the burns but still being skeptical.

"Find an other labeled hoaxes. Just as Roswell found another link, Reform witness, night abductions. You always felt a meaning, but did they come?" Same idea as first verse.

"And there’s a why, I’m burning out inside, With a need to know, One self, Well I’m burning out inside. With a need to know

Does anybody really see anything?
Does anybody really see anyone?" Pete wants to know what the truth is.

"LIGHTS TWO MILES WIDE FELT IT LIFT FELT IT PULL!" Two miles wide? Felt it lift you up? Beginning to see the ridiculousness of the "encounters".

"Does anybody really see anyone, Does anybody really see anyone?
Does anybody really see anything, Does anybody really see anyone?" : Repeats to emphasize Pete still doesn't believe.

Chevelle – Highland's Apparition Lyrics 16 years ago
Yea, frodriguez is correct.
I live in Virginia, and the band did a 45 minute interview with Elliot in the Morning and they explained the song as pertaining to a house they lived in.
Sam and Pete were working drywall at the time in Chicago, and had parties often. They said when friends would stay at the house after a party, they'd wake up and explain the same nightmares they had that other friends had who had stayed in the house, too.
Pete said they knew about the hauntings but never told their friends, which is hilarious.
They explained that sometimes it'd look like people were walking into the rooms they were sleeping in, and often felt chills and being touched in the house, commonly at night.
Pete also said that one day a woman was dancing in the front lawn and he asked "Can I help you?" The woman smiled, asked to come into the house because she used to live there and said her father and cat were buried under the tree in the back yard... They didn't let her in.
Anyways, everything I explained comes right from the interview and you can see it in the lyrics.

Chevelle – It's No Good (Depeche Mode cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about a man who is in love with a woman who doesn't share the same feelings for him. She may not even know he exists, but he "knows" eventually they will be together. To me, it's kind of stalker-ish. I love the ending though, when he gets frustrated and begins yelling... I heart Chevelle!

I'll try a line by line. Possibly, a marriage going down the drain?

"I'm tired of your open mouth crawling inside my skin"

Chevelle – Panic Prone Lyrics 18 years ago
Okay, the "Save the Children" interpretation of this song makes sense, especially because apparently Pete designed the song that way.

BUT- I originally thought this song was about a girl who gave in to a guy for sex, had a child, and was firced to try to raise the baby alone because the guy only gave her money and didn't give a shet. If you kinda go line by line, my interpretation could work as well.

Pete is basically saying "Don't like what I'm saying? Then put up your fists, because I'm sticking by my words."

Chevelle – Saturdays Lyrics 18 years ago
Screamline pretty much hit it dead on, but I think an important part of the song was missed. Pete sings "Now we all belong in the Saturdays of our youth..." He addresses that feeling of lost-innocence everyone has dealt with when maturing from a child to an adult. As a kid, Saturdays were the highlights of our lives because they were so stress-free and memorable... feelings we wish we could still enjoy as adults.

I'm going to have to agree with trexaur on this one. It just makes sense. Pete is explaining how he feels about bands who do crazy stunts or wear ridiculous outfits to attract attention becuase their music sucks, and they have no creativity. To be honest, I think Pete brings an interesting point. Most music that you hear on the radio now-a-days is by bands who play the simplest riffs and sing the most annoying lyrics, and the only reason they're popular is because of their image created by their clothing style and stupid music videos. Chevelle will refuse to sell out, according to Pete.
