We've lost the minds
We came to know
Like cattle out in the cold
We begged for months
We begged to know
Show kindness never found
Now we all belong
In the Saturdays of our youth
Cause we all have lost
So don't feel so alien
We rise and fall
For pride and gain
Just defending ours, always defending ours
Well we must relate, no well we can't relate
We must relate, no well we can't relate
Now we all belong
In the Saturdays of our youth
Cause we all have lost
So don't feel so alien
Live in chaos
Now swinging claws
Closer, closer, let's see something new
Something new
Something new
Something new
Now we all belong
In the Saturdays of our youth
Cause we all have lost
So don't feel so alien
Now we all
Now we all
Now we all
Now we all belong
We came to know
Like cattle out in the cold
We begged for months
We begged to know
Show kindness never found
In the Saturdays of our youth
Cause we all have lost
So don't feel so alien
For pride and gain
Just defending ours, always defending ours
Well we must relate, no well we can't relate
We must relate, no well we can't relate
In the Saturdays of our youth
Cause we all have lost
So don't feel so alien
Now swinging claws
Closer, closer, let's see something new
Something new
Something new
Something new
In the Saturdays of our youth
Cause we all have lost
So don't feel so alien
Now we all
Now we all
Now we all belong

Screamline pretty much hit it dead on, but I think an important part of the song was missed. Pete sings "Now we all belong in the Saturdays of our youth..." He addresses that feeling of lost-innocence everyone has dealt with when maturing from a child to an adult. As a kid, Saturdays were the highlights of our lives because they were so stress-free and memorable... feelings we wish we could still enjoy as adults.
IMO this song is about growing older. When we're in our twenties it seems like time is so fast and the world seems smaller to us, We often come to realize that we are powerless against time and we can't do anything to slow it or pause it and savor our youth, stay this way forever. Saturday is the last day of the week. And now we're in the Saturday of our youth, but we're not all alone. Life is about change and we have to accept it. We have to stop looking back and pity ourselves for not being the way we used to be, else we can never find happiness again because we live in the past. "Let's see something new.. something new". Let's look forward and enjoy what life has to offer ahead. You're not alone and we're all in this together. Nice song.
i believe this song is how the alienated people growing up should come together to see they are not alome there are others like them
but im not sure so help me out
It sounds like he's talking about people who feel that the entire world is out to get them and they think they are the only person that feels as shitty as they do, depression. He's saying you're not the only one who's life sucks, there are others and if you realize this, it'll make things better.
I agree 100% w. mpulley. The song's about the unneeded hardships and problems when u r an adult, the line that does matter the most is "Now we all belong in the Saturdays of our youth..." the rest of the song is just stating all the b.s adults go thru. As children and young adults u still have something besides work and stress to live for and that is ur saturday nite. The songs message is a bit morbid and i dont completely agree with it but im 19 years old. I'm far from being a complete adult and my "elders" are always saying that these are the best years of my life lol so the song does make sense
This is exactly how I feel everyday. I listen to this when I think about my days back in HS.
right on, i agree with mpulley jjjwusa and phoenixasu... kinda weird, i graduated and moved to my dream spot, california and it doesnt make up for my high school days. saturdays used to be my favorite day, no work no worries and i think about how awesome that used to be and how i want to go back..
Beautiful song.
this song just reminds me about everything i wish i could still do. im in college now but this song brings me back to the saturdays after a football game and not havin to worry about anything till tuesday conditioning.
After being a working man for half a year, I am already understanding this song very clearly. My work can be extremely frustrating and when I listen to this song it gives me flash backs of the good old days. It reminds me of how much I miss my old school friends that I don't really get to see any more. It gives me strength I guess you could say.
