| Steven Wilson – Thank U (Alanis Morissette cover) Lyrics

I thought the line change was pretty funny but the original line actually did make sense lol. "Transparent dangling carrots" I'm pretty sure means icicles, the kind you see on roofs in wintertime. :p
amazing cover |

The meaning is obvious, I get these same feelings watching old movies. So weird to see famous people who were once alive on screen and then in the present moment they are dead. It's sad, and a reminder that everything perishes one day. |

| No-man – Outside the Machine Lyrics

The most beautiful song to ever reach my ears.
It's about getting old, finding yourself outside of the machine that used to be your life. No longer needing what you used to because you've grown outside of it, where you can see the truth behind the illusions. |

So much beauty that's went untouched. This is pure genius.
Alan Duffy, whoever he is, wrote these lyrics. I honestly love his lyrics for early porcupine tree and think they are some of the bands greatest lyrics ever. I wish I could learn more about what happened to him and his role in the band, because I'm really interested in their past history more so than their current work.
To me these lyrics are just about the amazing things humans can do in contrast to simpler life forms. It is also about taking LSD (hence the Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds reference) and the visions it produces. "You can see so much more than I," says the caterpillar because he does not have a brain and lacks the intelligence we possess. It is illustrating the power of our minds and the beauty we can create.
This song makes mentions towards a higher power and also evolution. If every small creature wishes to evolve upon seeing something greater than itself, it means that there has always been something bigger for the cycle to have started.
Limitless interpretations, great song. |

Brilliant song. This band needs more attention!
I think it's just about getting high and the feelings it brings out... things that you repress kinda just come out when you're stoned. I'm sure there's definitely more to it than that but I have no clue. |

This band is amazing, I'm shocked that NO ONE has commented. So much emotion and sentiment in all of their songs, you can tell they truly care about music and not the other things that come with it. This song is beautiful, not only the sound of it but also the lyrics. Tim Bowness is a lyrical genius, the last stanza is so true... |

Steven Wilson's other group "No-Man" made a song with the same music but different lyrics. It's called "Jack the Sax." If you like this song, check it out. |

Everyone wants to be loved, that's why some people love car crashes. It makes them feel better knowing someone is worse off than them. |

| Porcupine Tree – What Happens Now? Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I think this is about someone who has lost all hope in life and simply does not value it anymore.
They are describing what they COULD do. They could blow themselves up in an airplane, because they simply don't care anymore. He asks himself, "What happens now?" because he doesn't empathize with the people who would be hurt if he did something major like that. It's a passive "So what?" kind of attitude.
He simply sees it as blowing himself up across the heavens, and toys with the idea...

"Stars Die."
The title explains the song, everything dies, even stars.
This song is sad, but it's beauty is overpowering. |

Please remove this, this is a song by Steven Wilson's other band; Blackfield. Not Porcupine Tree. |

Favorite song off of Insurgentes, simply amazing.
This song is obviously about sex;
Fitting my hand in your glove?
There's also the "Adrenaline by Love" line.
"Skin belongs to both" sounds like sex.
I'm guessing the dude had sex with a girl and shared an intimate moment with her but they later lost feelings for each other, causing a puncture wound for both of them. |

I'm pretty sure this song is about a fucked up couple just staying together for sex and drugs. In the end, she overdoses and dies, and in the same direction down... down... down. |

It made me think of liberals in the US. Always standing up for privacy (did you know you're on CCTV) and are some times called bleeding heart liberals, yet they can't take strays in (something a conservative wouldn't do, they believe everyone has to help themselves) I dunno, just reminded me of the amount of hypocrisy there is in politics. |

| Scott Walker – Cossacks Are Lyrics

I'm surprised at the lack of comments here. I love the whole drift album, it's amazing. Me being a progressive rock metalhead dude, it's weird that I would like something such as this. The lyrics are what get me though, so scary, and filled with though. The little sounds in the background add to the experience, and the use of instruments is amazing, such as raw meat for percussion in one song. Scott Walker is a genius.
I love the, "Face on the pale monkey nails." part. I don't know what this song is about, but it's awesome. The Cossacks are a village I know, that are known for there skills in war and weapons I think.
I always think of a beautiful landscape at the, "cossacks are," part, being invaded with white flowers everywhere, with two sides going towards each other yelling, ready for battle, disrupting the landscape. Great song. |

I thought it was about a kidnapping almost. In borrowed clothes, so he looks different. And deep down inside he knows he is a girl, could refer to how the kidnapper has disguised him to look like a completely different person. |

When I heard this song, I thought of necrophilia... It's obviously sexual, with the coil and salt, everyone should know what that means. Covering the eyes with brown could refer to burying the body... Since dirt is brown, he certainly has raped or murdered the person he is doing this too. |
