I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the song is about drug us e= "I've got lots of pills and I like to eat them up" . I agree with the small town aspect which confines and leaves a person with nothing to do and no where to progress."Well you're contagious and I got no light" = Drugs and no opportunities. This instill of ignorance could be linked to the title(Jesus and Austria) because both (to a person of no education in a small christian town) exist to that person but there is no proof but they blindly agree without truly understanding " Stab at that empty space" if you ask an un-poorly educated person to locate Austria they will not be able to anymore than they can locate or explain their religion "What's the use of trying to find us" which causes the whole "You slug your priest" = ignorance "when your just gonna give this up"= usless to try to understand or progress And to escape the terrible fate that the person will inevitably face they turn to drugs: "I like and empty bottle" Or none of this has any relevance to anything and I'm just spewing trash and the song isn't meant to be interpreted! |

I think that if a group/singer chooses to do a cover than they should either do it better or on par with the original.... This sadly cannot compare to Portishead's, it's an okay attempt but its just too painful to listen to. |

This is an amazing incredible song but one that is very difficult to determine the meaning. I'm going to tell what i picture when i hear the song i think that KJG keeps refering herself as her and she which makes me picture that the girls is mentally disturbed schitzo. Who is realizing that she is a schitzo "I join the dots" and the other personality bring shame or perhands the stimga of a mental illness brings shame upon her family or whomever she is close to. Then one personality is on a river contemplating suicide because she cannot "cross out my name" to leave one person. I just realized that I have no idea what i'm saying i'm sort of babbling but i think at the begining of my post i sort of made sense with the whole mental illness thing so lets just stick with that. The Song to me is about a person with mental illness. Simple as that. |

I agree with the drug thing 4405. I think again it's about the mother that was on drugs during her pregnancy and now the baby is born with the addiction and her "milk" literally or perhaps her feeding the baby drugs. And as things progress worse with the baby, she relies more and more on the "medicine jar" to get away. And she "Drowns...in a medicine jar" |

At first I heard the song and immediatley thought of the crude interpretation but as you listen to the lyrics it's more. The other day i was watching an interview with KJG and they asked her about "Suck" and she said that it was about a bug(i think) that gets underneath the armor and just keeps sucking and sucking until there is nothing left. Now I kinda see the self destructiveness of the songs and how she let the "bug" in "just cos i'm lonely". Really great song surprised that there is so little response to it. |

If i may make a few corrections to the song: After "the color is honey" KJG sings "I go the mile" then "your fingerprints.." I believe it is "i take a light flex" and it's "you're girlfriend and you on the Pyre" it doesn't quite make sense but thats how it is written in the booklet but there are a few typos in the booklet so i think the correct spelling would be "your" not you're Besides that this is the song that got me hooked on Queen Adreena so it will always be one of my favorites. I completely agree with girlicide that it's about an abusive relationship. The song just feels like a kick in the stomach.. in a good sort of way. |

I take this song sort of at face value that it is about someone "afraid to live your life" so they don't do anything and are so perfect that even "Heaven's gonna burn your eyes" because of what the person hasn't seen and the singer is trying to coax that person by telling them that "In my arms I'll catch you" Beautiful song no matter what i means. |

I think that Alison is representing the success and hollowness of the music industry and kind of trying to seduce Tricky in the song. Pumpkin you're hollow within I find what will make him Love me Life is our find Hollow is he And tricky is so wrapped up in the music that he doesn't know who is is and is confused I guess. How'd you like yourself? You don't know yourself I can't breathe and I can't see MTV moves too fast, I refuse to understand If that makes any sense. Anyways it's a beautiful song and I'm suprised no one has posted about the song... |
