I take this song sort of at face value that it is about someone "afraid to live your life" so they don't do anything and are so perfect that even "Heaven's gonna burn your eyes" because of what the person hasn't seen and the singer is trying to coax that person by telling them that "In my arms I'll catch you"

I see it as, you are so focused on your fears, you applaud them, you hold them near...your fears are the focus of your gaze. But "heaven" says, don't focus on that. I put that in quotes because what is heaven is so open to interpretation, but I love it here as a way to point to the sacredness of what a human can and should strive for. I think this might be my favorite TC song. I wish there were an official video for it.
