| Al Frankin said I did it my way... | |
| Screaming Trees – I See Stars Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| No idea what the song is really about, but it sounds like he sees stars in the morning. Not sure if he's dead. | |
| Three Days Grace – Break Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Seems pretty obvious to me that it's about drugs. But written in a way that they could release the song as a single. |
| Kid Cudi – Day 'n' Nite (Nightmare) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't think it's about a breakup at all. This person and stoner has not dated this girl he's obsessed with. She just doesn't want him. |
| Entrance – Grim Reaper blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Another great song... Not sure what it's about... a personal experience from Guy? |

| Not quite sure what the meaning is but this song is amazing. | |

| Alter Bridge – Watch Your Words Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm going to go a little outside of the box here with this interpretation, bare with me. I think that this song really refers to a lot of Schizophrenia and how it can affect a person's life. Now, you have to properly define Schizophrenia, and it's different from split personality (although there are some similarities). Schizophrenia is hard to define first of all because in itself there are different kinds of cases. But it is typically defined as bizarre behavior, paranoia, delusions, and 'different' perception of reality. I think this song could be about how a person slipped into, or triggered, their Schizophrenia. The bases of the song deals with how lying to other people, in social instances, can "drown you". And how the lies eventually become reality to the victim. "And cure my wounds, and the light will blind you". This line compares physical wounds to the deep mental scarring that Schizophrenia can cause. How the victim will eventually become socially outcast, locked-in, withdrawn, reserved. All of the above. The "light will blind you" because the person is a shut-in who has very limited social activity. Chorus: "I can't breathe" This is just the description of how a person with Schizophrenia can feel, almost as if they are drowning. "I prefer to find a ceiling" Instead of trying to overcome, and accomplish something. They tend to look at the negatives and 'limit' themselves by finding a "ceiling". "I can't win I can fight no more I'm drowning And I'm sick inside" This describes how the victim would feel as their Schizophrenia worsens and becomes a virus to their life. "Push no more And the day will find you Speak no truth And your ways will end you" How giving up can result in "the day" that the person ultimately gives up by sacrificing themselves. How lying ("speak no truth") will tear the person apart and the people will grow tired of the victim's delusions. "It's alright And you must move on Though the damage has been done Cherish the life and the ones you hold Can you change? Can you go on, oh?" How accepting it is the first step, no more denial. The damage has been done, no point in wallowing in the mud. How the best way to overcome it is by "cherishing the life and the ones you hold". Can you get better, overcome the illness? Move on with your life? I know I'm probably way off base but this is what I thought when I heard the song for the 1000th time. |

| Temple of the Dog – Say Hello 2 Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song is amazing. The entire album is the epitome of all good, scratch that, great 90's music. That being said, it is still timeless... |
| Mad Season – Artificial Red Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Such an amazing song. Clearly, well not clearly, it seems to be about drug addiction, more specifically the challenges presented in rehab. He wants to stop, or at least he thinks he does. Then reality sets in, followed by doubt. The sound of the song is simply mind blowing. The song is very powerful. |
| Screaming Trees – Caught Between Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You may be right gosso king but the impression that I got was that this song was/is about drugs, more specifically about how they can ruin your life. Just about how this person, presumably Mark, is essentially "Caught Between" continuing down the path or stopping and trying to get his life together. Dunno though. |
| Screaming Trees – No One Knows Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think that you have some of it right, not sure about the drug addiction but I am pretty certain it is about a person's problem with their loneliness. All of their life they have become this person and have constantly run away from their problems and no one knows who he really is. | |
| Mark Lanegan – Hit The City Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is a great song but the meaning is a little hard to decipher. It sounds as if Lanegan is singing about his own life here and how he feels alone. I interpret it this way not really because of the lyrics but mostly the song's sound and the vibes it gives. ! |
| Screaming Trees – Witness Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, after reading the lyrics and the comments I would have to agree that it is about both his ADDICTION and RELIGION. His addiction has made him(Mark) this person while decryptor has an interesting point about the "lonely light". It sounds like he is confused and in need of help. |
| Black Sabbath – Over To You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
A song more bizarre than most Sabbath tracks, in both sound and lyrics... Something about how 'this person' has essentially given their life away, maybe by electing politicians. It says, "my childhood" initially, then changes to "my children" in the concluding half. Possibly implicating how his decisions will effect the next generations... ? |

when I first heard this song, I didn't expect a southern flavor but I was pleasantly surprised... Pepper is fantastic as always |
| Black Sabbath – Supernaut Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I think this song is about one man's aspiration of inner discovery. Ozzy was big into occult symbolism, the Sun being the symbol for the human heart and spirit. Further along these lines, the moon is indicative of the soul, and by climbing them, he is in search of true meaning. Rainbows are illusions caused by bending light, thus all illusions are plastic, meaning maleable and false. By tearing up your mind and abandoning the future, it says to me that he has attained some measure of enlightenment, the truth of which would shatter many people's conception of self and their place in the world. By abandoning the future, he resigns himself to live in the present. No man needs friends if he is truly comfortable in himself and his solitude. The dish and the spoon? A throwback to finding his childhood dreams and innocence." If true, I don't think Ozzy (or Geezer for that matter) could have said it better. |
| Corrosion Of Conformity – Drowning In A Daydream Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree with ^^ AcidTrippp ^^ that the song is referring to drug use which transforms over time into drug abuse. The song describes a person whose life became comprised of drugs, and only drugs. He realized this and decided to kick the habit. The opening line, "There's a question mark in the place of a spark that used to be an answer", explains how he started to question what he was doing more and more. The spark being the "flame" that he used to light up. Overall, he is admitting that he has a problem and that he regrets becoming dependent on whatever he abused. |
| Mad Season – Long Gone Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |
That bass is phat. One of the best songs from the 90's, a great decade of music. As to the song's meaning, it probably pertains to end of the grunge era as others have mentioned. |
| Blind Melon – Drive Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think they reference Jimi (Hendrix) throughout the song only because they had been influenced by him but it is a great addition because it adds another element to the song. I also think it is about 'Williams's drug addition, problematic or not, as he relies on the narrator for a ride where ever. It also seems to bring up how 'William' has so many ambitions, most that he will never accomplish. Great song. Might not be as catchy as Blind Melon's other songs but it definitely does the ears good. However, it may take a few listens to, to be able to fully enjoy the song... |
| Candlebox – Breakaway Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No comments on this song? I have a feeling that this song relates to the band's struggles to leave their home town, the town where they believed they couldn't explode onto the scene. Great catchy song. |

| Black Sabbath – Cornucopia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about how people are deceived by wealth and their materialistic desires. Mislead to the point where they aren't really living anymore. Also I should note that instead of 'concrete place' it should be "concrete maze". |
| Unified Theory – California Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Omen is spot on here. Chris Shinn - Vocals Brad Smith - Bass Dave Krusen - Drums Christopher Thorn - Guitar Regarding the meaning of the song, it probably refers to the members experience of moving to California. PS. You have to love that riff/hook going on. |
| Dry Cell – Slip Away (new) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is incredible. Sure, they may sound "like" Linkin Park, although to me there is a distinct difference, but they had musical talent. In my honest opinion this is one of the best songs by this band, including the Freekstyle video game rendition. |
| Creed – Higher Lyrics | 18 years ago |
All of you disgust me to a degree I haven't seen or heard in several weeks. Creed is a terrific band that may not appeal to everyone but in the mean time does not try to. To those who 'hate' Creed, I find it sad that you find the time and energy to dislike a band so much where you find it necessary to post about it. I listen to what pacifies my mind and provides me with a pleasant state of mind. Granted, the genres do change over the course of a day depending on my mood, but for the most part this band is incredible. They are not one of my favorites but they have produced music, an astounding feat alone that most of you couldn't equal, but is has been better than average music. I like many genres of music including rap and trance along with reggae. To those trying to defend this song and it's meaning, do not bother any longer. It seems obvious from the posts that I have glanced through, that the authors have no true clue what they are talking about. The fact that they take, let alone have, the time to bash another person's music is intriguing. I have always found that if you don't enjoy something, or you aren't required to do it, then you should reconsider. Regarding the meaning of the song, several meanings emerge in my mind including the influence of drugs, religion, and other a few other topics. If I would have to guess from the lyrics, the video, and the musicians themselves, it would be about 'lucid dreaming'. Have fun and take care. |
| Screaming Trees – Dying Days Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I do enjoy this band very much mostly because of the rather mellow but still grungy music. I was first introduced when I looked for more bands similar to Blind Melon. Although there may not be much similarity I don't regret it for one second. This song seems to reference some drugged up past. Now he feels empty inside and doesn't have anything to believe in. |

| Dry Cell – Silence Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is my favorite dry cell song. | |
| 1208 – The Next Big Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Good song, pretty self-explanatory |
| Blind Melon – The Pusher (Steppenwolf cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The Steppenwolf version seems to be directly relating to a man who is tired of his 'pusher man', a seller of narcotics. However, Blind Melon covered this song and changed the lyrics a bit to alter the meaning. Now it describes someone who can not stand the "bible pushing man", or a religious figure trying to convert people. - just an observation |
| Blind Melon – Soak the Sin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about taking life as it comes, living to the fullest even if the actions are deemed illegal. This is really just a guess given the title, certain lines, and the sound of the song. | |
| Zakk Wylde – Throwin' It All Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It is about the lead singer of Blind Melon, Shannon Hoon, who died in 1995. Good song. | |
| Blind Melon – Paper Scratcher Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I actually agree with Phat Daddy and Chipper1048. This song seems to portray a man(or Hoon) where he feels different than everyone else. 'The normals' being regular people in society who have a 9-5 kind of job. The writer depicts the 'homeless' as a free living soul without responsibility except to himself. This would be my interpretation. Very nice song. |
| Lenny Kravitz – Magdalene Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| A song about a girl who seemingly throws her life away. Leaves her home to move to the 'city'. Becomes a stripper. Never accomplishes her dreams. | |
| Blind Melon – Candy Says (The Velvet Underground cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't know what the actual meaning of this song is, but my interpretation would be that it is pertaining to a woman who is displeased with society's focus on sex. This person is trying to release certain ties to material things and just live hiz/herre life the way hee/shee wants. Shannon Hoon, return soon. |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is about how society is being gradually depleted in it's values and ethics. Girls, not women, having children at the age of 16 and plastic surgery dominating social subjects. Also, a line seems to be wrong in the lyrics provided above. It should say "And buy me a star on the boulevard " |
| Sister Hazel – Champagne High Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song seems to do with a wedding, possibly about a man who is a guest at his ex-girlfriend's wedding. Regret. But also, female vocals appear when the lyric "and I'm blue" plays. |
| Blind Melon – Change Lyrics | 18 years ago |
one of my favorite songs of all time. Does anyone know of bands similar to Blind Melon's sound. They seem so unique; a blend of funk, grunge, pop, alternative and jam rock. A website mentioned and listed bands including Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins but none of those are quite like Melon here. By the way, the guitar that begins at about 2:15 in the song, is very very moving. |
| Uriah Heep – Paradise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think that this song is about a relationship that did not end successfully. "The time has come to go" seems to present someone ending the relationship. This person is seeking love and 'paradise' as the title suggests. The relationship lacks communication and affection therefore it has to end. | |
| Faith No More – Epic Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I guess I understand how this song could be about "jackin' off" but, that doesn't seem to satisfy me; don't get me wrong, I love to mastablast but you know... | |
| Black Sabbath – Supernaut Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is ridiculous. From the lyrics to the amazing riff. The riff says to me, "I don't give a fvck, leave me alone!" The last two lines, or the entire song!, are unbelievable. "Don't try to reach me 'cos I'll tear up your mind I've seen the future and I've left it behind" one of my top 20 sabbath songs of all time! (that sounds like nothing but... realize there are about 60 good sabbath songs) |
| Blind Melon – Change Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, has anyone noticed that this song is ironic to Shannon's drug use. "And oh as I fade away, they'll all look at me and they'll say, Hey look at him and where he is these days. When life is hard, you have to change." Those lines above seem to discuss Shannon's drug addiction but in a retrospective manner. It is as if Shannon died and they are talking about how he should've stopped using his drugs. It seems like he was dead when he wrote the song, but lived to sing and record the track for the album. |
| Uriah Heep – Lady in Black Lyrics | 18 years ago |
One of my favorite Heep songs. Ken Hensley is legendary. |
| Blind Melon – Change Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sorry, I interpreted this song entirely wrong. It is about how people need to accept change, including death, and to live how you want to. |
| Blind Melon – Change Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about how people in general try to conform to something else instead of being themselves. Some people observe this while others also change. R.I.P. ShAnnOn hOOn |
| Blind Melon – Tones Of Home Lyrics | 18 years ago |
..."wishes to stay** there"... The lines, "Nobody here really understand me and so I’ll wave goodbye I’m fine, I'm fine", seem to say that 'Blind Melon' has no problems with leaving there fame and fortune in Los Angeles |
| Blind Melon – Tones Of Home Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I believe I read somewhere, or heard it in an interview, that this song is about how Blind Melon's time in Los Angeles was less than enjoyable. Also that they wished to return home. From a general viewpoint, this song is about home sickness and a longing desire to leave, in this scenario, Los Angeles. When he returns home no one understands why he wishes to say there. |
| Black Sabbath – All Moving Parts (Stand Still) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Confusing lyrics, it seems the last few lines are about sex... good song however |
| Black Sabbath – Dirty Women Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is probably about prostitution and someone who is lonely during the nite time. | |
| Black Sabbath – It's Alright Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I did not know that Bill Ward could hit those high notes! The song is about how he found love and learned that nothing else matters. |
