Paradise Lyrics

I feel you trying
Though in my heart
I know you're lying
And though your love
For me is dying
I see you crying

It's the pain of your secret heart
Bringing you to tears
Filling you with fears
For your mind and for your soul

I touch you softly now
Borne on by hope
Until the end somehow
I am a man and I must keep my vow
I must go on

But the wall of your secret heart
Keeps my distance clear
Helps my footsteps fall
Back in line inside my mind

What's the use you turned me loose
And left me here to cry
Where's the love we talked about
Where's my sunny sky

Secret hearts and sorry tales
Will never help love grow
Spread your wings my daunted soul
The time has come to go

I will not be hurried down
Or blackened by your lies
I must go and find my dream
And live in paradise

I think that this song is about a relationship that did not end successfully. "The time has come to go" seems to present someone ending the relationship. This person is seeking love and 'paradise' as the title suggests. The relationship lacks communication and affection therefore it has to end.

I believe this song is about a man who is In love with a woman, and the two made promises to one another ( perhaps marriage), but now she loves another, and he still loves her, so he feels his only option is suicide (spread your wings my daunted soul, the time has come to go... I must go and find my dream and live in paradise).

I'm a bit disappointed in UH for digressing from what would have been a fantastic concept album; D & W starts off with a great intro to his writing about what I had hoped would be entirely about his spiritual journey after his meeting & communing with the Wizard. I had always maintained in my mind that the album followed through & stayed the course in it's telling of the writer's spiritual journey, but in further analyzing the songs & lyrics, I can see how they meander from this search for truth & enlightenment mixing it with a simple search for an eros love.
