As I Lay Dying – Nothing Left Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm gonna be honest, up until now I pretty much couldn't stand this band. Shadows in Security just got so old so fast to me.

But the moment I heard this song, and later the rest of the album... Well, holy shit! AMAZING stuff.

Arch Enemy – Seed Of Hate Lyrics 17 years ago
Holy shit. This reminds me so much of me through high school. So many motherfucking backstabbers.

I think this song is about someone who's been through a rough experience, maybe a break-up, maybe a friend stabbing you in the back, something like that, and now they don't trust anyone. It kinda fits with the title of the album "Burning Bridges".

In Flames – Reroute To Remain Lyrics 17 years ago
Also, this song formed the basis for my valedictorian speech at graduation lol.

IN FLAMES, TAKING OVER HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATIONS EVERYWHERE.

I can't believe I got to see them in Gigantour with Bodom and Megadeth... Amazing.

Children of Bodom – Living Dead Beat Lyrics 17 years ago
Ahh man I love this song... I got to see Bodom play this live in Atlanta as part of Gigantour this past April. Once that first heavy set of riffs came in, my best friend and I started this huge-ass mosh pit, next thing I know I'm on the other side of the crowd!

Fucking intense.

In Flames – The Mirror's Truth Lyrics 17 years ago
I saw In Flames open with this song in Atlanta on April 20th, holy SHIT that was a good show. They even played Clayman \../

As far as meaning, I see it as both the environmental aspect that JG234 mentioned, and as a little bit of Orwellian stuff.

"Should I join the feast?
Should I acknowledge the leash?
The future in captivity
I'm not who I'm supposed to be."

That's the bit in particular. No one seems to openly see or criticize anything, but deep down, they really know what's up.

In Flames – Clayman Lyrics 17 years ago
@ Dreadnaught

Actually, I read it quite opposite. In reality, plastic actually means moldable. Clay is described as moldable or plastic.

Anders isn't the clay man, but he's singing from the perspective of someone he describes that way. The plastic people, the sculpture made of clay, are symbolizing those who change with whatever the fad or craze of the day is, molded by the media, MTV, and everyone else.

You had the right idea, though.

Prototype – The Way It Ends Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow I love this song.

I think it's about how people tend to obsess over predictions of the end of the world, and forget to enjoy and value the here and now, instead of endlessly worrying about the way it all ends, completely missing the point of life.

I always listen to this song when I'm feeling a little down; before I met my girl I was really fucked up, whether anyone really knew it or not. Now, I dare someone to try to fuck with me, because as long as I have Brooke it really doesn't matter.

tl;dr this song is the story of my past year.

Anthrax – Deathrider Lyrics 18 years ago
This is one of my favorite Anthrax songs EVER. Hence my using it as my screen name practically everywhere.

The John Bush remake so fucking badass... I played it for one of my friends who is one of those guys who's exclusively into Hardcore Death Metal and he was like "Dude... That shit is brutal.... It kicked me in the balls man..."

LOL ANTHRAX

Megadeth – United Abominations Lyrics 18 years ago
Pro-Bush? No way, otherwise Dave wouldn't have called them "the failings in Iraq". Yeah, Bush screwed up going there, but it's gonna take us a while to clean up our mess.

That aside, this is a really good song. More controlled and less frantically-paced than the older Deth stuff, but good nonetheless. I think the best song from this album, tho, is a tie between Sleepwalker and Washington Is Next.

Megadeth – Washington Is Next! Lyrics 18 years ago
Hey... Has anyone else noticed that some of the riffs sound very similar to their old song Tornado Of Souls? Found it kinda odd. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you! At first listen, they sound nothing alike, but if you listen very closely, they do. It's kinda cool how Megadeth is creative enough to take one song's sound, reuse it 17 years later, and come up with something totally different.

As far as what the song means... Sounds like a song about the birth of a new totalitarian government in, you guessed it, Washington. I think it has something to do with the idea that all governments eventually become power-hungry oppressors, even if temporarily.

Holy SHIT! I absolutely love this song! This gonna be one of the BEST albums they've made in a loooong time. No doubt. I think it will be a close second to Rust In Peace. I've already preordered my copy! May 15 can't come soon enough!

Megadeth – Sleepwalker Lyrics 19 years ago
Oh man... Now I HAVE TO HAVE THIS ALBUM. If for no other reason, this song right here. Much better than anything on The System Has Failed. And that's saying something. This ranks a lot closer to Rust In Peace or Countdown to Extinction.

Fan-ranting aside... It seems to be a song about someone who has a strong desire to kill someone, and obviously dreams about it in multiple methods. Pretty straightforward to me. Just a song about urges to kick someones' ass to death. Or, should I say deth?

Megadeth – Gears of War Lyrics 19 years ago
While I think the lyrics for this are pretty good, I seriously disagree that this is better than RIP. That album and song had sooooo much thrashing metal fury. GoW is much slower than Megadeth's usual standard of fast n furious metal. Except for maybe the album Countdown to Extinction, Rust In Peace is (IMHO) the best piece of music ever put out by Megadeth. That said, this is a pretty good song. Absolutely can't wait for the next album! RATTLE YOUR DAMN HEAD!
