The Gaslight Anthem – Stay Lucky Lyrics

Where's BaCoCa? And the line "Momma never told me there'd be days like these
Until it was much too late to recover" has got to be from the Van Morrison song.

Bruce Springsteen – Terry's Song Lyrics
|
Seriously tpwaller, how could people you've never known personally and only know from history books be more important than a true friend whose life actually coincided with yours. And to say that boats or colors on a flat canvas are more important is absurd. Join the present man and connect with living, breathing things. |

Puff Daddy – Come With Me (feat. Jimmy Page) Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
This song should never have been allowed to exist, but if it had to, it shouldn't have sucked so much. Why did Puff even want to use this music when the original had nothing to do with what he is talking about. A 2-year old with a rhyming dictionary could've written this song (one angry little 2-year old) "I want to fight you, f****** bite you" - that's just stupid. 99% of this song is just space-filler and could've been summed up in 4 lines:
Why did you betray me
You're gonna regret it
I'm gonna kill you
And myself too (for some reason)
So please Puff, do it soon so no more songs get ruined by a no talent ass clowns like yourself. |

Great song with Willie and Bobby D together - their voices blend perfectly. Nelson's Across The Borderline album is tremendous with this song as a highlight and a couple Paul Simon covers too. |

Counting Crows – Miller's Angels Lyrics

Ya, so Miller's Crossing is a film by the Coen brothers and has nothing to do with Sean Penn. It's about Irish gangsters, so I don't think this song would work, but correct me if I'm wrong here. |

Bob Seger – Like A Rock Lyrics

I really like this song, man it takes me back. Unfortunately, it reminds me of the commercial and kind of takes away from its beauty and power - knowing it was used to sell products. I wish I had one of those Men In Black memory erasers so I could listen to it for what it is, a very well written song with great imagery. |

Ian Anderson played this on his new orchestral dvd. Just before he played this he dedicated it to all the people who didn't make it (The John Bonham's, the Keith Moon's, the Jimi's). It was a great tribute to all those legends who's tunes ended too soon. |

The Rolling Stones – Always Suffering Lyrics

|
This is my favorite Stones song ever. The lyrics are perfectly crafted and bring out such great emotions. I think it's about two people who fall in love but slowly drift apart. He thinks back and remembers the great times they had, then reflects on what love is. If you like the Stones, especially their deeper cuts, listen to this. It's off Bridges to Babylon |

If you watch the extra features in Almost Famous, you can see movie Stillwater perform a few songs in front of a live audience. I'm not sure if Jason Lee is singing but it sounds like him. And Billy Crudup is playing guitar and if really is him, holy bugger. Listen to it. |

Jackson Browne – Tender Is The Night Lyrics

I always loves the line "Tender are the hunters." I know it's referring to those who are seeking love and relationships, but being an actual hunter, I love the use of the word tender to describe what I do. I'm not out there to kill cute little animals. I know this has nothing to do with the song, but thanks for listening to me. |

I thought JB worte The Load Out and some other dude wrote Stay. Anyway, the is the quintessential rode song. He wants people to know that he loves performing songs and doing shows, but it's all the other behind-the-scenes stuff that is so monatonous and hard to cope with. |

Jackson Browne – Rock Me On The Water Lyrics

I agree. "There's a sea bird above you gliding in one place like Jesus in the sky" is such a beautifully written line. Just as the sea bird can't physically change things, Jesus can't either. They are both up there looking over us, but it's up to us to effect changes and make the world a better place to live." "The Road is filled with homeless souls...And they'll help you if they can." Why is it always the ones with nothing to give that always lend a helping hand, when those with the material wealth to help sit on their riches and care nothing for the welfare of others (with a few exceptions) |

Partly. Lawyers in Love is such a perfect title that it could really stand alone. Love is such a spontaneous thing with no rules or guidelines. I agree 100% with your comment on Late For The Sky being one of the most brilliantly written albums. This song along with Late For The Sky, For A Dancer, Before the Deluge, etc. make it one of the best albums I've had the pleasure of listening to. Many musicians from the 70's had good ideas in their songs, but none wrote so perfectly as Jackson. He is the only writer I know that can capture you with a few words and still have it mean so much |

Jackson Browne – For Everyman Lyrics

Jackson Browne wrote this song in response to CS&N's Wooden Ships. Wooden Ships is about a group of people who leave this world on ships and sail away to a better place. After hearing the song, Jackson asked "What about everyone else" and wrote For Everyman. I remember listeniong to this song after Bush won the election in 2004. It hit home so perfectly. I felt like leaving for someplace else - Canada perhaps. After hearing the song, I realized I wasn't the only one with these fealings, and that if I stayed here I could take a stand and perhaps make things better. |

Jackson Browne – Before The Deluge Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
If this is what the song means to you guys, that is fine, but you are all way off. The song - one of my favorites ever - isn't that hard to decipher. It's about a group of people who wanted a simpler life. The first verse reminds me of Lewis and Clark. They went on a journey through the heart of nature. The second verse makes me think of indians. "Their feathers once so fine, grew torn and tattered." The indians were eventually forced to reservations. They were forced to trade their lifestyles for an easier one filled with modern conveniences. As more and more people populated and exploited the wild places of the earth, a new group of people rose up in protest of the degredation of mother earth. But they were swept away by "the men who learned how to forge her beatuy into power". I don't know where Kafziel go the disco references, but I sure don't see them. Parts of the song can be related to war and nuclear bombs, but that isn't the essence of the song's meanings. Before long, the world will wake up and see that we can't continue on the path we are or the world as we know it will be no more. Let's hope that days comes soon, before it's too late. |
