That's exactly what's happening here. Arctic Monkeys are just four kids from Sheffield who like to play music together, and suddenly, because of this huge internet buzz they get famous. They didn't do anything to try to become famous, it just came to them.
And now everyone wants something from them and everyone has an opinion about them. They just want to play music for people who really like it and not for the ones that want to like it because it is supposedly cool. |

I really like the message AM is sending out here. They are frustrated with people who only listen to music because it happens to be popular, and I can share that view.
In the second verse I think Alex wonders why out of all bands they have become so popular, and what it is that sets them apart and makes them commercially attractive, and what it will be that makes everybody forget about them just as fast. He wants people to just think for themselves, and he doesn't want people to like their music just because they have to. |

Yes this is a great song, it seems to me that she's in a lot of pain now, and she's trying to recall the good memories of her youth. Probably something happened that makes her feel so bad now, hence the 'Can I...I remember...' and 'If I ever meet again with her / Could I tell her I could live with her?' parts.
It is a beautiful song and beautifully sung by Heather Findlay. I love the line: 'I'll fight these demons that I've tried to describe' |

Wow, not only does Riverside make great music, they are also great lyricists. It's obviously about someone struggling with himself, and he can't cope with people around him who are popular while he feels so lonely himself. I love the line "You always see my life up against your life", so true.. |

Seems to me it's about getting older and even eventually dying. The 'When hair has fallen out' sentece implicates that. But more than that it's about enjoying the time you get during your life and making the most of it.
