| What a cute song. =) Not much to interpret, though, since it's pretty straight-forward. | |

I honestly love the "No-ot o-ov-er-er you" repeated in the beginning. It adds so much character and depth, and had me hooked. I agree above: Imogen's melodies and harmonies are glorious on this track, and lends to it being one of my favorites of her whole catalog. "I'm a slow-motion accident lost in coffee rings and finger prints." Best line of the song. It so succinctly captures the awkward clambering of a victim of unrequited love. |

------------------------------------------- It's been such a long time coming; I thought you'd understand. That's over the head of the lines You'll be joining in the sand. But it's simple: You were wrong. You must have known that we'd end up alone. I know you thought I'd sold my soul, But never told me to my face. I just had to leave you go And blow this shit away. ------------------------------------------- "That's over the head[s] of the lines [of people] you'll be joining [with their heads] in the sand." That's my take on it, and it sounds exactly like it. He's linking two expressions with the word "head." Oh, and I definitely hear a "p" sound in the "you must have known" line, so that's what I hear. Pendulum saying that they're alone, purposely separated from the pack of other D&B bands. |

^Almost what I hear! This is what I got: 4:23 "Now everyday come and sing me to life Come sing me, come sing me to life Telling me you can't breathe the air to save you At this point, you're right" |

Beautiful song, but there are too many errors in this transcription. Here's a correct version: Almost home When I missed the bottom stair You were braiding your gray hair It had grown so long Since I'd been gone And the perfect girls By the pool, they would protest The cross around their necks But our sons were overseas And we all know 'bout the hive and the honey bees Almost home With an olive branch and a dove You were beating on a Persian rug With your bible and your wedding band Both hidden on a TV stand And the cruel wind blew Every city father fell Off the county carousel While the dogs were eating snow All our sons had sunk in a trunk of Noah's clothes Almost home We got lost on our new street While your grieving girls all died in their sleep So the dogs all went unfed A great dream of bones all piled on the bed And the cops couldn't care When that crackhead built a boat And said, "Please, before I go, May our only honored bone Be the kinship of the kids and the riot squad" |

"'The Shepherd's Dog'... as in d-a-w-g." ~Sam Beam This is a beautiful final piece, for both the concert and the album. I cannot wait to hear it polished up. It's already sublime. |

| The first verse alone is so moving. I can't wait to hear the studio version. It sounded amazing at the Pabst Theater. | |

These lyrics are incorrect. The correct lines are: When his/her eyes are closed again, He/she sees a dark market of a violin. That accounts for the two syllables not represented after the incorrect word "above," as well as letting the lines rhyme with the last verse: 'You say the most beautiful things, just like my violins' Give it another listen =) |

| I'm also fairly certain it's: "I was born worn," not "old." | |
| Antony and the Johnsons – Spiralling Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the last repeated line is, "Help, brave rogue." The last syllable is hard, but not quite a K. It could also be: "Hell grave rogue," but that makes even less sense. | |

This has recently become a favorite of mine. I was honestly surprised to see it as one of the only 2 without reviews. "You'll find the road gets harder; signed dotted lines will cling to you like a tax." I think the song is about losing a love to the recording industry. The narrator's love was also musically-inclined. The "six years" of her life is probably her contract. Most of the implied loneliness is obvious, but the beauty is not in the mystery of the words; the small references that make the song all the more personal to the artist add the poignant punch that it needs. She's all around him and all he can do is bite off his nails. |
