The December Drive – and now we justify your criticism Lyrics 19 years ago
to us at the time, it was a responce to the mass amount of critisism we receved for playing a very unpopular style of music. we had tried for a few months playing as a pop-punk band under a different name. and it went fairly well until the songs we started writing began leaning toward a different sound. after a short breakup we were reunited by a mutual friend and began writing music under this name. the backlash was fierce at the begining (this was the second song we wrote) but we quickly put that wave to rest.

The December Drive – 1426 Lyrics 19 years ago
that's a good interpretation of those lyrics. in the case i'm specificly speaking of, it is a mother as the governing body. what the song means to me is that after being kicked out of my house, i wanted to remove all contact from myself and my family. i wasn't ready to be out on my own and had no job or money, so if they were ready to put me out on the streets, then they should have been ready to bare the wieght of not knowing if i was safe or healthy or whatnot. that was my way of not "making light of" their "concious decision". but without my knowlage, 2 of my bandmates were speaking with my family letting them know my status and such on a regular basis. that was 2 of my 4 friends (hafway there, 2 down and 2 to go). they acted as the moniters that were positioned by my family to keep track of me.

The December Drive – NO remembering Lyrics 19 years ago
oh, and there's a part earlier in the song where i say "guilt ridden nightmares and promises made, phonecalls and atrophy break me so i cannot speak or call after you"

The December Drive – NO remembering Lyrics 19 years ago
actually, the line is "tatoo these words on your WRISTS" and he did. David got "rememberig" tatooed on one wrist and "®ret" on the other. the last lyrics of the song, i say:

"You were right about where you stood when i fell... holding on too. And there you were screaming out 'this is your fault! this is your fault!'. You were holding on to your ears as you threw yourself out the window as i convicnced you this was your fault."

Minus the Bear – The Game Needed Me Lyrics 19 years ago
i always got that he's talking about what they are doing, specificly. like touring and such. there's not the biggest money to be made on the road, but the experiance itself is worth more than money can buy.

"you're touching me like piano keys" - like the audience reaching up from the floor to the stage

"you can't put a price on this brand of action" - i've been on tour before, and you can't

"what does it cost for this life of excess? would you ever miss your desk's caress" - trying to be a full time band is hard cause there's so much temptation and pressure to go to school and/or get a real job, and the money doesn't exactly start pouring in, even as your popularity builds. but they're sticking with it. and getting there. and loving it by the sound of it.
