Bee Gees – New York Mining Disaster 1941 Lyrics 19 years ago
Um, the guy is in the mine, not his wife.

submissions
Simon and Garfunkel – Mrs. Robinson Lyrics 19 years ago
Thats exactly right. Have you guys actually listened to Bookends?

submissions
Ace of Base – The Sign Lyrics 19 years ago
You guys make me feel old. I just remember this sucker being seriously overplayed in the clubs in Canada...when I was a freshman in college.

submissions
The Troggs – Love Is All Around Lyrics 19 years ago
Great song, far better than what they're most famous for, Wild Thing.

submissions
The Chordettes – Lollipop Lyrics 19 years ago
Interesting, if only to document the bleakness which was music before Elvis and The Beatles.

submissions
Village People – Go West Lyrics 19 years ago
The Village People not only did it first, they did it almost twenty years before the Pet Shop blokes.

Amusing, priest. Amusing.

submissions
Simon and Garfunkel – Peggy-O Lyrics 19 years ago
Captain loves a girl.
Girl spurns Captian.
If pissed Captian returns, he'll burn cities in revenge.

Thats more or less it.

submissions
Michael Jackson – She's Out Of My Life Lyrics 19 years ago
You ever see the Eddie Murphy bit about this song? "Tito, get me some tissue. Jermaine, stop teasing."

submissions
Michael Jackson – Girlfriend Lyrics 19 years ago
Creepy song. Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney = Scary

submissions
Alanis Morissette – Head Over Feet Lyrics 19 years ago
If Alanis is such a genius, why the hell did she date Dave Coulier? Corky from Life Goes On even knows better than to som something like that.

submissions
Roy Orbison – Crying Lyrics 19 years ago
Ha. Owned.

submissions
Sam Cooke – I'll Come Running Back To You Lyrics 19 years ago
Perfect example of early Sam Cooke. #18 on the Billboard pop chart in '57 showed him to be a crossover power even in the early days.

The Doors – Touch Me Lyrics 19 years ago
personalchaos, of course the Doors were average. None of the band were what one would consider virtuoso players. Their lyrics were occasionally brilliant, mostly listenable, but often horrid. A great band is greater than the sum of its parts. The Doors were simply The Jim Morrison show. Any backing band would have had the same effect. It was all about Jim's charisma. Have you ever heard the albums the Doors put out after Jim died?

Barenaked Ladies – Tonight Is The Night I Fell Asleep At The Wheel Lyrics 19 years ago
Wow, thats a stretch...to the fifth dimension. Where are you pulling that from?

'You're the last thing on my mind' has two meanings. Thats what makes the song clever.

submissions
The Shirelles – Will You Love Me Tomorrow (Carol King cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
Amazingly forward for a song recorded in 1961. Hell, its still works in twenty ought-six.

submissions
The Beatles – Anna (Go to Him) Lyrics 19 years ago
One wonders how the song could be about John's mother, when the Beatles didn't write it.

submissions
The Beatles – Here Comes the Sun Lyrics 19 years ago
This song really shows a drawback that CDs have over Long Players. This song was the first track of side B of Abbey Road. The last track of side A was I Want You (She's So Heavy). That song was so dark and forboding, flipping over the album and playing this was like physically flipping over to a new day. You just don't get that by hitting 'next track' on the cd player.

John Lennon – My Mummy's Dead Lyrics 20 years ago
Hard core. The roughest forty-nine seconds ever set down on an album. The pain just cuts through.

Also demostrates the crap people are putting out today. What mainstream artist today would bare their soul like John did with Plastic Ono Band?

submissions
Ringo Starr – Beaucoups Of Blues Lyrics 20 years ago
Great song. Ringo sings it like only Ringo can.

submissions
Queen – Long Away Lyrics 20 years ago
'Lonely as a whisper on a star chase' is simply a great lyric.

submissions
Queen – She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes) Lyrics 20 years ago
They had Storm Troopers in World War I, long before the Nazis. 'Storm Trooper' is just dramaticspeak for 'Heavy Assault Infantry'.

That being said, I always thought it was about a guy who had it a little too bad over a woman who walked all over him.

submissions
Elton John – Don't Go Breaking My Heart Lyrics 20 years ago
Someone in some magazine once wrote that the only noteworthy thing about this song is that it put Kiki Dee in trivia questions forever.

Oh what the hell, I still like it.

submissions
Elton John – Candle In The Wind '97 Lyrics 20 years ago
Oh well. She's dead now. And the U.S. still has landmines. We win.

submissions
Thompson Twins – Doctor! Doctor! Lyrics 20 years ago
No comments yet? Amazing.

Of course its a sex song, but its good eighties stuff.

submissions
Milla – You Did It All Before Lyrics 20 years ago
Amazed that no one commented on this one, since its a far stronger song than the three on the album that were released as singles.

submissions
The Cranberries – Linger Lyrics 20 years ago
I think everyone can relate to this one. "You've got me wrapped around my finger, do you have to let it linger" sums up young love gone bad, or unrequited young love, perfectly.

submissions
The Cranberries – Joe Lyrics 20 years ago
You guys know that it is about Delores' grandfather, right?

submissions
Elton John – My Father's Gun Lyrics 20 years ago
I always liked this song, it has one of the bes choruses ever, but Taupins subject matter is...strange. Pointlessly romantisicing the Conferacy seems very weird for an Englishman.

submissions
Jet – Look What You've Done Lyrics 20 years ago
It does have an unmistakeable Beatles feel to it, which is probably why I like it. Because, really, I consider the rest of Jet's stuff to be near Milli Vanilli quality.

submissions
Stevie Wonder – I Just Called To Say I Love You Lyrics 20 years ago
Not so good. Stop listening to this, and run out and get a copy of 'Talking Book' or 'Innervisions'.

Sell out soft pop. Of course, its on 'The Woman In Red' soundtrack, so thats expected.

Stevie Burned up nearly all of his hard earned seventies cred with this monster.

submissions
Frank Sinatra – It Happened in Monterey Lyrics 20 years ago
Its not rocket science, its a Frankie song. Frankie says what he means.

RIP, Frank. You were the king.

submissions
George Harrison – Got My Mind Set On You Lyrics 20 years ago
Poor George. Its catchy, but god does it suck.

A long way from even 33 1/3. An even longer way from All Things Must Pass

submissions
Freddie Mercury – Barcelona Lyrics 20 years ago
Queen Greatest Hits 3, of course, was a cheap cash in.

As for the song, its good stuff. Even if Caballe had long since passed her peak. Freddie, of course, kept his beautiful voice right to the end.

Sadly, most of the album is throwaway filler.

submissions
Queen – Delilah Lyrics 20 years ago
What can you say? Its a song Freddie wrote about his cat.

submissions
Real Life – Send Me An Angel Lyrics 20 years ago
I remember this song was the song they played during the 'dancing on bikes' scene in "Rad", the best bike movie ever.

submissions
Elton John – Sweet Painted Lady Lyrics 20 years ago
Bernie Taupin's mysogonistic tribute to prostitution.

Elton makes it sound good, but the lyrics make one roll their eyes.

submissions
Terry Jacks – Seasons in the Sun Lyrics 21 years ago
No comments, eh?

The preennial suicide song, at least thats what I think.

submissions
George Harrison – Got My Mind Set On You Lyrics 21 years ago
No, its not. Its a pop song. Punk music, well, sucks.

submissions
The Doors – Love Me Two Times Lyrics 21 years ago
I like the doors, but I don't know why. Well, I do know why. How Morrison made those vapid lyrics sound good is a miracle.

submissions
The Doors – I Looked At You Lyrics 21 years ago
Pretty straight forward, but god, the lyrics are horrible.

Jim carries it off with the voice, but this is a bad song.

submissions
The Doors – Touch Me Lyrics 21 years ago
Average Doors song. Of course, the Doors were about the most average band in the world, so it evens out.

You ever notice how every high school has a kid who goes insane and thinks he's Jim Morrison?

submissions
The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever Lyrics 21 years ago
Lennon used heroin. He says so right in the 1970 Playboy interviews.
